[PS3] Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What To Eat? PROTIP: THIS IS THE MGS4 THREAD

Who are you to dictate what is or isn't "metal gear solid?" I'd say it is pretty fucking clear that MGS2, 3 and 4 are all "metal gear solid" seeing as it is his series and he is free to do whatever the hell he wants with it. Dislike something all you want, I personally can't stand Wild Arms 4 and no amount of reasoning from another human being will convince me otherwise but at the same time I know I have no logical reason to dislike it other than "it isn't my cup of tea" so I don't sit here complaining about the things which makes the game so great to other people.

You prefer realism, good for you. Not everyone cares about that and not everyone is going to agree that MGS1 is better just because it's less "out there" than the other games in the series.

Yeah but thinking something is 'cute' and something having 'depth' are not the same thing. I don't see how a cheesy sounding accent gives anyone any depth they didn't previously have.

My understanding of it was that the injection Snake took from Drebin (which created an "altered" form of foxdie) was meant to kill Big Boss. I think he specifically mentions to Snake that they sent him to kill him at the end, that they saw their meeting coming in advance or something. (Also, Drebin admits at the end to having been working for the Patriots -- so it makes sense.)

Ocelot had Liquid's arm removed at some point, you can see this clearly because he has a cybernetic one when he removes his coat.

And of course, EVA died from the fire in chapter 3-- nothing to do with foxdie. Ocelot didn't die from it either, he died from getting beaten to a bloody pulp.

You could be right about Ocelot. I don't know. This game actually didn't help simplify that plot point at all... In fact, this game honestly just makes it even more convoluted than it ever was previously. It would have been better off if they had just continued with the "Ocelot is Liquid!" plot point, rather than add the whole hypnosis shtick to it in the ending.

I was mostly going by what the database says (which people say is inaccurate anyway...) that Liquid really did take him over in MGS2 but that Liquid promptly had the arm removed afterwards because he didn't like having his mind under another's control-- and then underwent hypnosis as Big Boss claims in the ending to continue tricking the Patriots without really being under Liquid's control.

How this "tricked" the Patriots I'm not sure. Honestly, I wish they would just outright say what the deal with "Liquid Ocelot" is in a interview or something because everyone seems to have their own ideas about it which doesn't lead to as much closure as I (and others) would have hoped for. =/
