The music in FFT and Vagrant Story was amazing so I really doubt it'll be any different with this game. Sakimoto does some very memorable tracks.

You make it sound so uncommon. I always use up all my sick days but I'm never actually sick. I just ... don't get sick. So of course I use my days for something constructive, IE; gaming all day long until I go to bed.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Not as many places already have the game as people would like to think. My friend works there, and if the game were already in the back she would let me buy a copy early. She's always done it before and never gotten in trouble for it. They really usually don't care as it's unlikely they will get in trouble unless they start putting the game out publically before the street date.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm excited though. Day after I mention they didn't have it yet, she called me and said I could come pick one up. I <3 her.

Blue discs are PS2 CD-ROMS, so no... It definitely is not. They only hold about 700MB of data.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Well, people are entitled to their opinions. It isn't hard to see why someone might prefer it over a game like Abyss, given Abyss is very anime inspired, has horrifying load times and one of the worst world maps ever to grace a console RPG. It has plenty of flaws, same as most any game.

'Course, despite that little bit of trashing, Abyss is probably my favorite RPG of the year. Been playing around in FF12, and I like it just fine but I can already tell I am not going to like these characters even half as much as the cast of TotA.

The screen filter is only for televisions with text flickering issues. Most televisions don't really need it on, and it doesn't smooth any jaggies, it just makes the screen slightly blurrier. I prefer a sharp vivid picture over some butter lens effect anyday; Flicker filter is not anti-aliasing, lol.

Anyway, I was pretty much dead set on disliking this game after hearing all the whining from the pirating scumbags (hey, don't feel bad, I pirate too!) but after playing the game for ten hours I really can't see where they were coming from. This game is all kinds of awesome. This, VP2 and Tales of Abyss all turned out to be 'oh so satisfying' on so many levels. This year is most definitely an excellent one for gaming.

(Still have portrait of ruin, ff3 and Zelda:TP to look forward to, too.)

You can skip that boss if you really want by going south through the Feyewood and northeast into the Rift, which leads to the same place you are headed. The elder wyrm is pretty nasty if you are low leveled. Best advice is to wear something to null confuse and keep some esuna gambits ready. Otherwise, try and fight it later. Also, dont bother with mist quickenings. You NEED the MP against him.

That's not really true. I beat it, but I found it to be pretty much the most difficult boss in the game for me, given it is the only one that ever actually gave me a game over. Multiple status-effects, one of which being confuse really makes the fight a hair puller.

I distinctly remember using Esuna, which does not cure oil so I know he does much more than just oil.

Of course, I did rush my entire team around him so they were all succeptable to the ailments. That was my fault. Also, my first attempt, I wasted all my MP on a 21 hit quickening chain which... barely dented 35% worth of his HP. It was around this time I stopped relying on quickenings and only used them on recover abusing bosses (near death) and marks that liked to super boost their def also near death. ^^;

If you think Irvine looks less like a dude than Squall, Tidus or Vaan, then yes you are in the minority. I don't especially think they look like girls, but they definitely look a level of feminine which is far less than normal. I don't even think that can be argued as opinion, either. They just do.

Stats really don't differ enough that it matters, though. I do agree that based on how the board was set up it was just far too easy for everyone to wind up mostly the same by the end of the game.

I think if anything the game would have benefitted by having a much less forgiving license board; so that it took massive effort (maybe with penalties based on their stats) to duplicate characters. I dunno, I'm sure there was a better way to do it at any rate.

How ya doing, buddy?

To be fair, I beat the entire game without mages. It wasn't hard at all, because to be quite honest magic isn't very useful in this game except for nailing flying enemies and even that's only useful until you get the skill which lets melee attacks do it instead.

I also was never implying that they should restrict equipment but it would be nice to see a system where once you started down a path it was difficult to wind up on the same one as someone else. I do like the system, I just think it could have been done better with a little more effort. It was still a classy game that I had very little issues with.

Yes it does. Too bad we almost never get those upgrades so it's hard for me to be excited. Oh well.
