Actually its only in the way that it is documented that these were male gods, during times when women were second class and expected to deal with things like love etc (Venus), but when it came to war, it was men all the way (Mars). Gods are all in actual fact non sexed at their true basis, they are merely depicted as human, as it is easier for us to comprehend them that way.
