I don't personally believe the current generation is going to last 12+ years.
The last two generations went for...5-6 years, or thereabouts? Sony claims the PS3 is going to last 10 years. The PS2 could launch nuclear missiles and render Toy Story in real-time, too, and it became the centerpiece of the digital lifestyle the day after it was released, just as our prophet Kutaragi said it would.
Seriously, though, I only need to hold out until a PS3 or Xbox is sub-$200 used. I've been seeing fantastic PS2 games for $15 or less in bargain bins, games I paid fullprice for when they came out. Atlus and other niche titles notwithstanding, it's a pretty safe bet that the same thing will happen with PS3/360/Wii. Has for all the past generations.
Plus, I have my DS and I do have a Wii, so I have channels available if my PS2 reservoir runs dry
There's nowhere I can't reach.
It is not my custom to go where I am not invited.
