Pegg didn't have enough time on screen to really piss anyone off. (Karl Urban deserves a high five for being the only person to play their character well, though.)
The rest of the movie, on the other hand, had two hours to do so. And man, as someone who actually enjoys Trek for more than pewpew lasers I must say I weep for the future of the franchise. If this is how it's being rebooted, I want no part of it. Jam it back in, in the dark.
