Some of them, at least. Stuff like PGR3 looks rad on SD but NFS:MW looks pretty much exactly like it's regular Xbox counterpart. Sure, you have a little bit of a texture overhaul, and some slightly spiffier lighting effects, but unless you're looking for them or have a great eye for detail you won't miss 'em. And if you're like a few others who apparently can't see the difference between SD and HD, then shit, I woudln't worry about it at all.

Overfogged? Are you talking about extreme bloom lighting? Burnout Revenge has some serious blooming going on in some of the stages (the Asian cities, for example), so maybe that's what you saw.

Blooming though looks nice in that game, and it's not as excessive and eye sore inducing as it was in say, Fable, or something.

Yeah, if you own a 360 and don't have Live, something is wrong with you. A Silver account is free and lets you download both premium and free content, but Gold is extremely inexpensive and makes almost all of your games that much better through multiplay.

Yeah, there is a single player mode, but spending 10 bucks to download a game that's over a decade old just to play by yourself is defeating the entire point.

Multiplayer SC is quite heavy on the team based action. You can't run around like a vigilante in it.

Will I get one? Depends, really. Will the aesthetics be different? I'd defintely buy it if they were, and I'd be more inclined if there wasn't if there was more than just an HDMI port. (IE they have more USB ports on the front so you can have 4 wired controllers or something). I don't think the hardware change will be DS Lite level big and be such a required upgrade, though.

Unless it comes in new colours. I'd buy a black one. Or a Crystal semi-transparent one.

The update doesn't seem any different than the updates various other consoles go through in their lifetime, such as the 15 (I think we're up to that number now) different versions of PS2.

I hope there is an wasy way to transfer saves from one hard drive to the next though, without having to resort to shit like memory cards. That's a big point too.

Perhaps required was the wrong word. There is such a quality upgrade between the regular DS and the DS Lite that I, personally, found it to be a "required" upgrade. The new hardware, at least to me, was so significantly better than I considered it a "required" purchase. Something I would willingly pay money for, you know. That sort of thing.

And I'm obviously saying that this transation won't be in the same league. Unless there are more features or changes announced that I would enjoy and would feel comfortable putting money down on, like a new colour, or more USB ports for more wired controllers and peripherals, and so forth and so on. Hence the "maybe".

The rumours could turn out to be true, but making suggestions that one should hold off on a purchase until a new unit which may or may not come out any time soon isn't something I like to do. The problem right now is that there is no real way to determine what's bullshit and what's not. May 1st sounds like a completely arbitrary date, to be honest, so I dunno.

I guess it's all up to you and how badly you want the product. If the colour and improved features of the Zephyr sound like something you'd love, sit it out until we find out for sure.

Ah, well. We got three new things for the new, higher price. It's black, it's got HDMI, and it's got a 120 GB drive.

Ok, for that price I won't be getting it. For a variety of reasons. I've had my 360 since launch and the 12 gigs of free hard drive space is now down to 11.3. I don't need the space, especially since the video marketplace in Canada is non-existant.

I was hoping aginst hope that they'd phase out one of the other skus when this drops. I guess not. The rather useless core getting chucked out the window would have been supreme. But having 3 SKUs is just :ughmode:. I can understand the rather smart business decision this is. ("Everything the PS3's got and more, for less!" basically), but it'd still be nice to see them make the HDD standard on all new units by ditching the core.

The biggest gip is the price of the fucking hard drive. 180 bucks for a 120 gig hard drive by itself? What. The. FUCK. That's just completely fucking crazy. The 20 gig was bad enough, but this price is re-fucking-diculous. Wayyyyy too high.

My most anticipated title is Ace Combat 6, but that should come as no surprise to anyone. I'm only looking forward to H3 for a couple of reasons, and while it's certainly not at the top of my list, it's certainly not at the bottom either. I *know* a bunch of people here will end up buying it and it'll be fun playing in a group, but outside of that I can't see myself enjoying it nearly as much as some others.

AC6/GT4/Mass Effect/Eternal Sonata/Burnout Paradise/Blue Dragon/Project Sylpheed/Bioshock/The Darkness are all above Halawl on my "awwwwww hell yeah" list. I still preordered the Legendary Edition though because that helmet is badass.

I really have no idea what the warranty situation is like in Australia. While I can say that the hardware failure rate is ridiculously high, when my box shit the bed earlier this year, I got a brand new one sent back to me after about a 2 and a half week period. Wether or not the turnaround for exchanges will be faster or slower for you due to your location, I can't say. I can't imagine it would be any slower, to be honest, but what the fuck do I know? I don't live down there and can't vouch for anything.

As for the 65 nm chipset, a variety of sources have pinned this fall as the time when the chips will go into manufacturing. Due to the time it will take to get current 360s off of shelves, plus get the new ones in, we probably won't see them often until December, if that date sticks. Just make sure you check the manufactured-on date while at the store to be sure.

The input voltage is irrelevant. It's the output voltage that matters. All the brick does is step down the current in your wall to the voltage the 360 requires. Look at your power brick, if it outputs 12V at 16.5 amps, it'll run the system. The only difference is that the power brick you've got takes 220v in, while a Japanese or North American one takes 110. You'll be fine.

Alternatively, fill it with thermal paste and your power issues will disappear.

I didn't mean to imply that there wasn't. However, the 360 has a relatively high hardware failure rate. Higher than most modern electronics, at least. This much can't be denied, but yes, it's not like there aren't plenty of launch units still kicking around.

Rainbow Six: Vegas's Black Pack is now free, if you didn't notice that it cost money a couple of days ago and then mysteriously disappeared. With your account info, if you bought and paid for it, you will get reimbursed...eventually.

Ubi says it'll take 8 to 10 weeks to reimburse you, for some god awful reason.

Also the Red Pack, that cost 10 bucks before? Gonna be free as of the 6th. Guess that this content being free on the PS3 version caused Ubi to make this stuff free. I think there was some rule where if it was free on another network it had to be free here too, but I could be mistaken on that.
