The only bad thing about it (aside from RightStuf's stock being critically low for certain items) is that not all Geneon products are eligible for the deal (WHY NO KAMICHU).

But otherwise, yeah. I told some people the other day and they promptly dropped about $500 on it. Riches!

How ya doing, buddy?

The item I was really hoping for was the ROD TV volume 7 + box + figurine, and amazingly enough they actually restocked. I bought that up in a frenzy (along with the rest of the series) and Starship Operators, so I'm pretty satisfied.

Well, I tell ya one thing, they're taking a bit of time to charge me / ship. I haven't gotten anything past the order confirmation e-mail.

Here's hoping everything's going smoothly.
I've heard that they tend to take a while to ship out orders from these special promotions, which can make sense. Considering the bulk of people are ordering in packages of 10 or 25 DVDs, I imagine it takes a while to get everything ready... The thing that confused me was that they didn't even seem to have the DVDs on hand. If you go to RightStuf's page and click on 'where's my stuff' at the top, you can check the status of your order. Curiously, only the rarest item on my list (the ROD TV v7 + box + figurine) is listed as "order has been received" -- everything else is listed as "on order from manufacturer."

RightStuf is a reputable company, anyway, so I'm not worried about not receiving the products. Besides, it was an absolute steal no matter what you got. I'd be okay with waiting a few weeks.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, it's weird. Considering that they display the amount of stock they had (there were around 280 or so of the DVDs I wanted) I figured it'd be no big deal, but I guess when they're moving about so much stock it gets to be bothersome.

Here's hoping everything gets shipped out just fine. I always get anxious to receive stuff when I buy online.

EDIT: Owned by RightStuf. The status on ROD TV vol7 box + figurine has been changed to "reserved for your order," which changed my entire order to "All backordered."

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I didn't get any CDs because I've heard some negative things about US-released CDs. Something like how the quality is inferior to the original Japanese discs, or something? If you could confirm/deny that when you get your shipment, that'd be pretty interesting.

Also, US releases seem to lack the same extras as the Japanese ones (though they do cost a lot less). I am a sucker for the obi and first press goodies.

Anime-wise, it is sort-of-but-not-really covered in the second OVA, Samurai X Reflections.

Manga-wise, you should start at volume 18.

Also, my RightStuf order is still not shipped yet. ;_;

I sent another e-mail to customer service (I'm rather too phone shy to call) so I hope it all works out. I know the sale was pretty big and that they must have gotten a ton of orders so I can't bring myself to be very angry... but still, a month of waiting (for items that are consistently displayed as being well in stock on the site) is pretty unhappy.

Reflections was an ok OVA. I only wish it stuck with the manga since:

Spoiler:
Kenshin never dies. Still, a solid anime with dramatic music.
I'm not sure, but I remember reading that Watsuki (the manga creator) accepted the OVAs as canon, even though they actually end up going past the end of the manga. It's kind of sobering, but hey, it's life.

Well, I can kinda understand why its taking so long. I know they where selling 'in-stock' only, but the website probably let people order more than was accualy available for order. So they might have Some stuff that they have to order from Geneon.
I asked about this in my first e-mail to customer support, and this is what they said:

Quote:
Thank you for the email. Those counters are set up to keep track of
the amount we are able to receive from Geneon so while it may say "in
stock" it may just be in transit.
A little shady (just how much do they actually have in stock?!) but I guess it works.

Still no reply from RightStuf yet. COME ON MAN.

Well, rightstuf is sending me the items that are already available (7 of them (that number has not moved in over a week)) and the person I talked to said they'd ship on Wednesday.

So, yeah, if you get your stuff before me heads will roll. Probably mine, from emo suicide ;_;

EDIT:

My last order (4th shipment, 3 of which were single DVDs...) is on its way. I suppose it'll get here Monday... By then it will have almost been exactly 2 months since I placed the order, but at least I got it all in the end.

Can't really blame Rightstuf for the huge delays since I know they tried their best, but hopefully next time they'll have clearer communication with the manufacturer so nobody gets shafted. I'd hate to be one of those people who found out they couldn't actually get the item they wanted.

- KOSMOS (Xenosaga I or III), however I haven't been able to find one in this stores (I have seen screens of gourgeous figures, so I know it exists)
1/8 KOS-MOS Ver. 4 PVC

1/8 Xenosaga III KOS-MOS Ver 4

There are other retailers that specialize in imported goods (and yes, you usually will have to import figurines), but HLJ is a decent place to start any search.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Day 10 - December 12th: Burst Angel DVD Box Set (Hyb): $39.99

Yeah, I guess RS is just trying to get rid of some undesirable stock.

Day 11 - December 13th: Boys Over Flowers DVD Bargain Bundle (1-12) (Hyb): $89.99
Day 12 - December 14th: Scrapped Princess DVD Complete Collection (Hyb) (Anime Legends): $23.99

Too bad the Scrapped Princess set is the Anime Legends one (not the usual DVDs + box), or that'd be amazing. Oh well.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I liked Scrapped Princess (but not enough to buy it, even at that price). It's a pretty decent sci-fi ish/medieval fantasy series.

* Flame of Recca DVD Bargain Bundle (1-10) (Hyb): $74.99
* GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka DVD Box Set 1 (DVD 1-5) (Hyb): $19.99
* Legend of Himiko DVD Bargain Bundle (1-3) (Hyb): $12.99
* Mar DVD Bargain Bundle (1-3) (Hyb): $23.99
* Mecha Masters: Explosive Anime Classics DVD Set (Hyb): $12.99

GTO is really the only title that caught my eye in that last batch. $20 for an introduction to a great series is probably a very cheap price to pay.

I haven't seen many of those series, though, so it's hard for me to really comment on them. Too bad RS wasn't feeling very jolly with dropping deals on big name titles from the big companies.

If you feel like a little experimenting, then I'd also recommend Scrapped Princess since you said you never heard of it (due to FMA idiots). A 24 episode series for that price isn't shabby at all.

But if it's down to a choice between that and GTO, I'd go with GTO since I find that series to be much more meaningful.
