Of course, Lucky Channel (the end segment with Akira and Minoru) is not the same thing as Lucky Star (series in general).
Episode 5's Lucky Channel was probably the weakest one so far; I guess there's really only so much Akira can say about MMOs. They haven't yet done the profiles on Konata, Kagami and Tsukasa so I expect those should be worthwhile. Eventually, I suppose Akira will just do the entire segment in her real personality. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |

I doubt strato really cares about relative popularity when deciding what to work on, anyhow... How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
The director changed from Yutaka Yamamoto to Yasuhiro Takemoto (who directed stuff like FMP? Fumoffu and FMP:TSR) which would explain the change of pace.
Curiously enough, in episode 4 Konata said "Ya***** hasn't been very impressive lately" in reference to "those long-winded Nagato scenes" from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. They probably just aired episode 9 (Someday in the Rain), which Yamamato storyboarded. A subtle reference to him being replaced? Who knows! Ha ha ha. That's not her.
Take a closer look at the OP (cheerleader sequence). ;( What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Just a notice that Xamayon picked up the manga about a week ago and have been releasing it at a furious pace.
Which becomes less impressive when you consider that each chapter is only a few pages long, but whatever! They're much better than Sleeping Forest or whoever it was doing it before. FELIPE NO ![]() |
The thing I like best about Lucky Star is that the staff involved seem to have so much fun with it. Good chemistry is always required for a good production, and the voice actors and people at KyoAni seem to have it in abundance. The ED for episode 13 defines that -- I can imagine the staff all having a good laugh at what they're putting out.
In other news, Minoru Shiraishi is probably feeling pretty great about having landed that role on Haruhi a year ago. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
One of the best episodes so far, probably because the focus wasn't on Konata/Tsukasa/Kagami all the time. Miyuki and her mom got decent stage time, as well as the other cast members (PATRICIA MARTIN GET).
The other random extras (Aya Hirano's excellent role switching and the fullblown Haruhi reference) were also great. Only thing the episode was missing for a clean sweep was Yui. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Evidently the two are characters from the Lucky Star Moe Drill DS game.

a.f.k. released both episode 17 and 18 together.
-Episode 17 -Episode 18 Between Lucky Star and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Strato must be working at a furioius pace to get stuff out on time. =================== Both episodes were awesome, from the more prominent featuring of other characters (I died at Hiyori's seme-uke gag) to SUDDENLY SERIOUS ACTION (oh those Hiiragi sisters). The best part might've been the credits on 18, though. You kind of got the impression Minoru could sing from the previous credits, but they were all pretty gag-like. Well, no more confusion! Guy can seriously sing, and it would appear that his composition skills are pretty decent too. Also, Tsukasa's voice actor is kind of pretty. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]()

But it's not like people are going to run around making fandubs or anything (and expect them to get taken seriously). I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
There's no need for a sequel or anything. You need to cherish what you already have, after all.
Prolonging the series would probably do it a disservice. There is such a thing as overstaying your welcome and all. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
The Azumanga Daioh anime covered the entire run of the manga. There's no more material left to animate. Even if there were, I've heard that Kiyohiko Azuma wasn't very fond of the animation for whatever reason, which probably rules out any sort of continuation.
As for cherishing what you have, well... I kind of associated that with being satisfied with what you've already got. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
I was kind of expecting some sort of massive tearfest like what happened at the end of Azumanga Daioh, but I'm glad (?) Lucky Star avoided any kind of "final episode" vibe except for the lack of an OP animation. No graduation, Lucky Channel still in shambles... at least this way we still feel like their story isn't concluded yet and that they'll still be together for us to come back to.
Tough void to fill in, really. Clannad is sure to be worth watching, but a series like that never quite matches the feel of a slice of life series that has an actual progression of time. I hope they decide to do a live concert, similar to the Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou one in March. I can only imagine it would be a lot fun. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
Of course, the question now is: how will the translations be? Extras? Packaging? I hope they include more stuff relating to the actual production of the series, not just English VA commentary and commercials. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]()
