Just got back from the TRU at Winchester/San Jose, what a joke.
Called this morning arund 10:30 to ask if they had it in stock, the lady who picked up said no. I was like, well, okay. Had class in the afternoon so I called again when I got out around 4 PM. Guy who picked up said the shipment hadn't come yet, but "DHL is swearing up and down they'll get it here around 5." So I say okay, and drive on down. Get there at 4:30 and wait... and wait... the associates there are telling people that "we can't confirm the shipment is coming until we see the truck." What the heck is that? And apparently they DID receive a shipment earlier of 30 (though there were 85 preorders) and they all sold out. TRU swears they'll have it in by tomorrow, but I dunno about that. The only nice thing is they apparently will honor the GC deal if you preordered regardless of when you actually pick the game up. Word on the INTERNET is that TRU is seriously letting people down all over (and especially in California). No wonder nobody really shops at TRU for games. To anyone who hasn't reserved it at TRU and is still considering getting the game, might I suggest you go to Circuit City or Best Buy instead? I've read that those chains are pricematching SMG to TRU's price. Sometimes they sell it outright for $25 or sometimes they just give you a $25 gift card. And I'm sure they've got plenty in stock, too. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

If you are getting Super Mario Galaxy and want a deal, get it from Best Buy:

Anyway, I've got the game now. Finally after 4 trips, multiple calls and days of waiting, I've got the game. I managed to use a 15% off coupon from Babies R Us as well for additional savings -- the guy who rang it up was like "sure, I'll try it" and then "wow, you saved a lot." The coin is in such nice packaging! I'll be able to play later tonight after I finish some errands. This is actually the first Wii game I've purchased since I got the system in July (with Mario Party 8, Wii Sports and Wii Play), so I'm expecting a great time. This $25 gift card will come in handy during Toys R Us's Buy 2 Get 1 Free Wii game deal next week... Looks like my collection may suddenly double! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
I just played it for a little while, long enough to grab the first three stars off the Good Egg Galaxy. Tell me, do I just really suck or were the controls just a little weird to get used to at first? Game isn't exactly HARD but I nearly had a game over from falling off too much into a black hole (couldn't move the way I wanted to) and I got hit tons of times from missing when I tried to jump on enemies. I guess I can just blame it on me being out of practice with games, but...
![]() But yeah, awesome atmosphere. Shooting through those launch stars is like freeeeeowwwwwwwwwwwww. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Yeah, I'm not so big on the three-hit health bar either, given that I tend to completely fail at jumping on enemies. Then teh constant beeping when I'm at 1 health gets annoying...
I die way too much at the stupidest crap. I swear I lost about 8 lives doing the ray surfing stage. If it weren't for the 1-up in the middle of the stage, all would have been lost. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Speaking of comet challenges, is that the only way to complete a galaxy? I've got the three stars on the galaxies I've opened up so far (Terrace and fountain) but only the galaxy that I did a speed run on (junk galaxy) is marked as completed, with 4 stars. Seems kind of weird to have to rely on a random event to complete a galaxy, unless you just pay 15 bits every time to move it to where you want it to go...
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
The problem with ray surfing is not the controls, but the friggin' waves. I'd try to take a corner and then WHUMP, big wave sends me into the air and the ray and Mario get sucked off into the abyss.

@ Meia: Yeah, I eventually started taking it slower, though that meant I usually charged straight through the first portion so I'd have enough time to waste later on. I think I clocked in at 1'18", when the limit was 1'30" or so... something like that.
Right now I've got 26 stars and I've just opened up the kitchen and Rosalina's library. Game is fun as heck, though I still keep dying at stupid parts. Also, who wants some Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack? Bigupload — 2000Mb Free File Transfer, Hosting & Backup Storage Provider. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Jeeze, how long or how hard do you play to have already beaten the game so completely? I've put maybe 8 hours into the game and I'm just hanging at around 37 stars now.
On the other hand, I do die lots of pointless deaths... Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
I thought the trash cleanup part was really easy, actually. If you look closely you'll notice there are gold marks on the ground spread out between the trash heaps -- if you chuck a bomb on or near them, it takes out all the adjacent trash heaps. There are 4 marks, and you only need 4 bombs to clean house so it works perfectly. Of course you still have to move quickly, but at least you won't need to worry much about aim.
