No, no...you CAN buy RAM from somebody else, but sometimes you have to order it directly from the manufacturer. My prime example is my personal experience sitting on my desk at home. I have a Sony Vaio (god if I remember the model) which has 512 and I wanted to boost her up to 1gb+. It will cost me damn near $400-$600 to get a new stick on RAM. About $400 for 512, and about $600 for 1gb. Pfft, better off just buying a new laptop with $600 more to play with. :/
