I'm going to vote the router overheating. My TrendNET router does that a lot.

Move it to a cooler location. If it doesn't do anything, pop it up and see if dust is collecting inside. I doubt it'll be a dust problem, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Some people also say going from WPA2 to WPA will ease up on the router, but I don't know about that.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
