1. Mitch Hedberg - The dude was the funniest comedian I have ever listened to in my entire life. His routines never had me in stitches the first time I listened to them - I'd laugh a little, but it took multiple listenings to really catch on to the genius. He was far too funny to die.

I agree wholeheartedly here. It was an extra jab to have his report of death on April 1st, as a shred of hope maybe it was a joke. I wish it was still.
2. Jim Morrison - I don't think it'd matter much if he was alive now, but I'm sure if he was alive then he would have had a few more good Doors albums in him, and I surely enjoy the Doors.
3. Layne Staley - same reason as above, really.
4. Phil Hartman - His whole situation just makes me sad, really. He did some really great work, especially his Simpsons involvement.
5. Cliff Burton - If he was still alive, maybe Metallica would still be good today.
