Trouble is despite the Blue Ray's massive storage space, its a fragile format, to quote my boyfriend:

While multi disks isn't exactly a high point, its not that big of a deal at the same time. We had multi disks games in the past, and I rather have stable game disks as oppose to one Blue Ray that could snap any second. Past multi disks games had the same price, the only difference is a very minor inconvience of switching them. And please don't tell me it takes too much effort to switch some goddamn disks.
Haha, he said "catagory."

Anyway, my Bluray discs seem to be fine. Furthermore if you're too dumb to keep your discs in good condition and you're going to bitch and moan about it, you probably should not have a $600 machine or any discs at all.

Seriously, they're your goods and you're paying for them so take care of it. The fragility of a disc isn't that apparent until you use it as a coaster or start bending it. If you place it into the PS3, PS2, PSX, Xbox, 360, Gamecube, Wii, WHATEVER, and take it out and put it back into the PROVIDED case, then your disc will never break and it will never get scratched. When people are absentminded fools is when your shit starts to get scratched.

Discs have different thicknesses, get over it. Wii discs are pretty thin too and they're DVDs. Can your boyfriend's store not take Wii discs either?

You're fighting a losing battle, can't you just give up? You and your boyfriend can go and have angry I-hate-Bluray-and-HDTV sex over the shards of a broken Sony Bravia and just leave Gamingforce forever. (AKA drop your track.)

@Ultima
I was thinking of getting that before but is it an AC adapter or USB? Hopefully USB because I don't have any more AC plugs due to my 2 TVs, Surround Sound and 20 systems.
It also uses a normal outlet, and that's a good thing. Always.
Just get one of those 1 outlet to 3 outlet things and you're good. Or unplug one of your 20 consoles. Surely you don't use ALL of them at once.

Its a good buy though. I went downstairs and two of my controllers were full, the one I was playing Resistance with when I got home was in a weird mid-color change but by now it's surely 100%.

The one qualm I have is the controller goes into the slot, but you have to kind of fiddle around to get the charger's connector into the controller. I mean, maybe I'm putting it in at the wrong angle but you always know when its in because it clicks and the light turns orange if its not full.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

And that helps the argument on the PRICE of the Blue Ray, how?

If I did decide to get Blue ray, of course I'll take good care of it. The point was we're paying alot for a extremly fragile format when all it offers is more disk space. Multi disks are cheaper to produce and buy, and will much less likely scratch.

Is it too much to ask for things to be affordable and more stable?
Technology is technology. Blu-ray games are $60 a pop. Its only $10 more for more space and newer technology. However fragile it is, the average consumer does not know that. Go complain about how Xbox 360 games are $10 more for regular DVDs, because thats the extortion you're looking for. It's purely just for money's sake. At least Blu-ray actually does cost more to produce.

A PS3 without Blu-ray isn't a PS3, since PS3 games kind of require it. There's no real way to make PS3s cheaper right now as 1) Sony is already producing them at a loss and 2) Newer technology is more expensive. As the parts get older, it will become cheaper to produce because the methods of production will be better-known and improved upon.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, I kinda figured, but wasn't entirely sure. Basically, Sony shot themselves in the foot. Again (betamax, minidisc).
I wouldn't say that. Blu-ray IS catching on, as it has a pretty large corporate following. For example, once Apple ships Blu-ray drives in its computers it will do well, and Blockbuster only carrying Blu-ray is doing a lot for it right now.

Betamax was a complete failure, but while Minidisc wasn't too large in America, it was and still is VERY popular in Japan. My friend has an MD player and when I went there, my host family had an MD player in their car. A lot of Sony's products just aren't feasible to the US market, but do well in its native market.

Lair, Heavenly Sword, and Folklore will be coming out within the next couple of months and that makes me happy. Along with Home betas and Warhawk? Shiet.

I made #psnetwork on Xelium for us PS3 owners, so come visit.

I'm not too sure about Folklore, as it didnt sell to well in Japan. But from the new gameplay videos of Heavenly Sword, I can tell this is gonna be the first PS3 game that's gonna be worthwhile. Very God of War like, cept you're playing as a chick and has some of the best facial animation ever, along with hot next gen graphics. (Which Folklore lacks a little, its good looking, but not GREAT looking.)

http://www.gametrailers.com/game/1679.html

Its not gonna make me get the PS3 right away, but good to know some good games are coming.
I played the Folklore demo. It will be excellent. Maybe not epic like Lair or Heavenly Sword, but it will be worth a purchase.

Well, Disgaea 3 was just announced. I don't know if that's considered the first 'big' RPG though. I personally love most of the Nippon Ichi games, but I wouldn't consider them a Final Fantasy in terms of 'big'.

Also holy hell. LOCO ROCO FOR PS3. WITH TILT CONTROLS. Why are the PSN games pretty much the coolest thing on PS3 right now.

Something else I just read, Katamari Damacy Creator Delivers New PS3 Game. While it sucks that Katamari is remaining a 360 exclusive, at the same time I would almost want a brand new innovative game over something I have played 3 different times already :\. BUT HAY. THAT'S JUST ME.

Jesus that's a lot of PS3 news for me in one day.
Great news and things are looking up for us, but somehow I don't think Katamari can stay 360-exclusive for long. With PS3 sales and game releases looking up as it is, they'll regret their decision sooner or later.

Why?

Katamari is a huge hit in Japan, and the fanbase it has here are mostly Sony fanboys, I would think. Thats two regions in which its biggest fans won't own a 360. So unless its incredible and changes the face of Katamari, it probably won't sell on 360. I doubt those Japanese would buy a 360 just to play Katamari, but they've done weirder things, so who knows.

omg! it still not the open beta for Home but I just got an invite for the close beta!

I pretty sure they'll send others invitation in the next few days ^^

I'm sad, there was no darkness demo for us though oh well I 'll take it in the euro PSN :P
Were you active on the Playstation boards and/or a GAP member? I'm trying to figure out the damn criteria for invites (because I want one).

edit// also demos being released in one region doesn't matter. Just make an account for Japanese PSN and an account for European PSN and you get all the demos they put out. Thats pretty much what I did.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

well I'm a gap member but I'm not there very often (if none at all XD) but I participate in previous psp games beta before (like killzone libertine, rachet and clank : size matter and socom)

you have a better chance to be accepted if you're in GAP but I think for now maybe 95% of the people that got accepted are in GAP.

They are probably just picking random people that are in GAP though, because like I said I participate in other beta and I just got an invite for this one...

and for the region ps store, yeah i already have an Euro account, but I don't like to play games where I really don't understand what's going on or can't even read the menu of the games, so I doN,t have a jp account (yet)
Oh well, I haven't been in any other betas so there goes my chances. I'm not even a GAP member, I tried posting on the PS boards a little but people there are too dumb so I gave up.

Tell us how Home is.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm very happy with what will be the 1.90 update and Heavenly Sword. Patience is a virtue, but god damn waiting all that time is going to kill me. I don't get why the US gets neglected with a "Coming Soon".

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Heavenly Sword might be coming to Japan and US this week too. I think it was confirmed by Sony, just don't know when.

I'm curious to see if the playable demo of Heavenly Sword will have new stuff compared to the previous playable code I've tried at work.
No it won't. As far as I know its the Gamer's Day demo.

I'm highly disappointed with the GAME menu organization. Can't they let us order them ourselves? Theres not really any more order to it in any of their organization methods than there was before.

Screw you Sony.

edit// In other news I just signed up for the Metal Gear Online beta. We'll see if I get in on 8/16.

So...basically I have no chance of getting into this beta...
You have a chance if you get through the submission form, just not very much of one. Same for me. Except I got through the submission form before I went to work.

I think I'm going to buy a 720p TV. It breaks my heart, but I'm too poor for 1080p.

Don't go with third-party ones. If anything goes wrong and they find out you used third-party cables, they can void your warranty a la Microsoft and the 360 Intercoolers.

Also Loling at the backwards compatibility problems already. Stupid Sony should have just left the chip in. I got my friend to get a PS3 before the EE was removed and I have the 60gb as well. I feel bad for people who missed out.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
