Seriously, cant I just press L1??? Jesus christ. The games controls looked horrible too, and that was my most anticipated PS3 title. More interesting things to come hopefully.

What a joke. The control with that looks terrible, they';re basically doing this so people think the Wii does the exact same thing so they dismiss it as a gimmick.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Only 6 degrees of movement? This motion thing is as restrictive as a fucking DPAD. The ENTIRE POINT of the motion sensing stuff is to add more accuracy, this is hilariously pointless.

I know their strategy. The motion sensing stuff isn't really going to be a big focus of PS3, they just made it tacked on on purpose, so people would see it and say "that's nothing special" and then dismiss Wii as a gimmick because they wont bother to learn more about it. It's pretty genius

Are you SERIOUSLY DEFENDING THIS THING? It's a freaking FLYING JOYSTICK. I was kinda excited about the motion sensing thing on the PS3 until this, because of the racing game implications, but now those are gone, because the analog is still more precise. The Wario Ware Twisted motion sensing capabilities on GBA are more advanced than this, this is funny shit.

SIX DEGREES OF MOVEMENT

I'm still not too sure abuot the specifics to be honest. From the demonstration though it looked like what I described before.

BTW what games are going to be out at launch?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It just gets worse, from the official Sony Japan site - http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/rele...f/060509be.pdf (?)

Pursuant to the introduction of this new six-axis sensing system, the vibration
feature that is currently available on DUALSHOCK® and DUALSHOCK®2 controllers for PlayStation and PlayStation®2, will be removed from the new PS3 controller as vibration itself interferes with information detected by the sensor.

EDIT: FIxed link

Alright, the "ripoff" thing isn't about the exact technology used, it's about the IDEA and DIRECTION behind the alternate gameplay method. The fact that they are copying it is really irrelivant though, what IS relivant is that it's half arsed. They would have been better off not showing such a thing at all, so we'd all be talking about MGS4 instead of Wii.

Overall though, great looking games like MGS4 remain unaffected and awesome.
