I had this happen to me way back in September. I finally determined that my power supply had shot out (it was a piece of crap anyway) and in the process it apparently shot out my motherboard as well. I got the same symptoms you got, nothing was showing up on my screen, and eventually after trying a couple times the computer didn't turn on anymore (hence I knew the power supply was gone). So I went over to the local computer store, bought a new motherboard (and case, since they didn't have a mini-ATX boards) and that was all I needed.
