It's from Outlaw Star (against any law, I get it :B). Episode... 3? 4? The one where the pirate ship brands Horis. I know it because... I've seen the series so many times? XD

Then again I haven't seen that symbol used in any other anime.

That looks like Baldr Force EXE Resolution. The beginning caught my attention, going into an h-game based OVA and first seeing heads exploding. Crazy stuff.

Yes, that's correct. I haven't kept up with the series at all, but the first few episodes surprised me by being pretty decent. I honestly expected a giant robot show based on an arcade game about dancing girls to be god-awful.

Oh. That's Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo - Youkoso Tsugumi Ryouhe (What a mouthful). I watched the first few episodes, and then subs never materialized for the rest of the series (at least not that I saw).
