For Final Fantasy VII, my best party has always been Cloud, Red XIII and Cid. Until everyone can do 9999 damage, they're the strongest characters in the game.

For Chrono Trigger I'd use Crono for his high physical damage (Rainbow Sword ftw), Marle for healing, and Magus for magic damage.

Now for my "dream team" I'd have Claude Kenni from Star Ocean 2 equipped with the Grand Stinger, Yuna from FFX with her healing magic and the summoned Magus Sisters, and Cid from FFVII for sheer badass.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
