Just got the game yesterday and loved it so far. I'm at the Turgen Mines. It's a little though, but fortunately i can handle it (Nothing compared to the Cave of Oblivion from the previous game).

The ending sucked, it was too short and left enough plot holes to barely make it a prequel. Ok now that I got that out the way, on to the real reason it was lame. They didn't explain anything, nothing about how VP2 connects to VP1. I always wondered how Brahms acquired Silmeria, and figured we'd find out in the ending. Not only was it not explained, we're left wondering how the hell Brahms and Odin survive to be in VP1 at all. Arngrim's the new guardian of the Dragon Orb and Rufus becomes the new king of Asgard, how does this play into Lenneth's timeline? Its like none of events of Chapter 5 and 6 ever happened in Valkyrie Profile 1, except the Valkyries being reincarnated. Lezard's presence was evident, he came from the future using Dipan's time machine after Ragnarok. Other than that, everything else is a complete mess. Maybe I missed something.. something huge, but how the hell is this a prequel again?

And I'm very confused. ._.
That doesn't surprise me though,

Spoiler:
The ending of the first game was horrible, all three of them. Very short and stupid (all that "macho" attitude from Lucian "Let's go Lenneth" (Or something).

Spoiler:
So, anyone got Celes yet? I've heard she is a though character to get since it's random if you can get her or not.

The game is so beautiful up to now. The only thing that i didn't like much is the difficulty. It doesnt seem very though up to now. I hope the Seraphic Gate is up to it's name.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Which location do you guys recomend to lvl up in chapter 3? My characters are lvl 20-25 since i spent most of the time lvling the einherier to revive them.

Also, why do you have your party lvl so high by chapter 3? is there a special character or something if you reach that lvl at some point?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Most of my characters have 8 CP and I'm lvl 27 or so. So many skills to use and so little CP, it kinda sucks.

I'm now in a rainy forest full of thunders. Some though boss just kicked my ass, it keeps regenereting constantly. I'll try to do the dungeon first and then deal with that bastard. It was my first Game Over....dammit...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

So, if you don't jump on the bridge you don't fall? Dammit, it took me like 12 tries to cross that thing. Anyways, when you cross the first segment of the bridge (there is only one foe) wait there till you see a flying foe far from the right, just freeze him and teleport and that's it.
By the way, what's the name of the last dungeon of chapter 3?.

Spoiler:
EDIT: Niiiiiiice!!!!!! The song from Palace of the Venerated Dragon. Nice remake for the fans...

Im at the same spot you are. Alicia:43 - Arngrim:35 - Leone:35 and Lezard 38. I have no Einherier though, i sent them in no time with the experience orb.

Shame the game doesnt have (at least for now) characters that can handle spears.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

By the time those people leave, i'll sure have some new Einherier to train. Plus, I don't think that Rufus and Dylan are the only permament characters in the game. Aelia, where are you!!!!!

Chapter 5 so far...
Spoiler:
Man, Rufus attack "Killing Thorn" really makes the difference if you need to collect crystals. It works similiar to one of Lucian's attacks where you can get plenty of crystals with one single attack.

The soundtrack keeps getting better and better. The battle song where you fight the Aesirs in the Forest is amazing.

Just finished the game.

Minor Spoiler
Spoiler:
It kinda let me down the fact that there is no fmv ending. Anyways, i really like how it ended, muuuuch better than the previous game. Valkyrie Profile: Hirst /Lenneth 2 coming like wut...

Vash
Spoiler:
Just stay behind the cristal and attack it with full force. Avoid attacking with Rufus, since he does little damage (at least my Rufus). It will take a while to break the crystal, so don't panic. Keep Lezard between you and the crystal and you'll be fine.

The game is so damn beautiful. Even after you get used to the graphics, you're still amazed how they are getting better and better. I specially love the Asgard plains.

For the ones that have finished the game, is there a voice collection hidden somewhere? I was hoping to unlock something like that. Stange that didn't have one, specially coming from a Tri-Ace game.

I'll stop playing for now (maybe a week or so).
I played so much in so little time that i even had dreams about it (that would be an interesting thread to make ).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You need to get two orbs, one makes your photons rebound 4 times, and the other makes your photons able to break those dams crystals (including the ones that makes you fly).

Spoiler:
Well, it doesn't. FFXII has great graphics, but cannot be compared to the beauty of VP2. Characters are less detailed and cities look more "opaque" since they don't have many "light effects". The "impressive" part of FFXII is that cities are REALLY huge, and they look chaotic with all the people around.
After playing VP2, I cannot be surprised by anything that comes from Ps2. That game really put the console to it's limits.

How ya doing, buddy?

But you know, people will never be satisfied. If a game is successful and you really really love it, the sequel will never be like the original. Like Chrono Cross for example which was an outstanding game, but people kept saying it was crap, just because chrono wasn't a playable character.

I loved VP2 and it's the best rpg i've played so far in ps2 (i bought it like 3 months ago). It felt kinda shot in story, but the gameplay kept me playing. VP1 had bad things too like that damn lag when you try to jump.

It looks like people can't stand that a game can be up to the original (not necessarily better, but at least a good sequel). They force themselves to find defects so the original can still be a classic (this also applies to movies).
