Ugh.
Any battle in Shadow of the Colossus. Most particularly the flying bird one and the flying "worm" one. I remember spending 15 minutes just figuring out how to get onto the bird boss, and when I finally did, I almost peed my pants. And then climbing on its back while it's flying at like 100 mph. Just watching the scenery below blur by and the hair and fur on the creature's body whipping in the wind... soo awesome. I almost forgot I had to kill it. I'd rather ride it all day!
Super Metroid's final Mother Brain fight was epic for me. I think SM was the first game that made me FEEL for the game and it's characters. I actually felt bad when my metroid, all grown up in Tourian, sucks my energy until the last second when it realizes who I am, and then flies away in shame. Then when I think Mother Brain is dead, she rises from rubble with that ominous music playing in the background and her ugly form rising. AND THEN when my metroid comes back grants me its ability, and then SACRIFICES itself for me... OY VEY. I think I actually yelled "IT'S PAYBACK TIME, AAAAHHHHH!!!" the first time I played it as a kid. I wish they'd remake that game for the Wii or something, just for that epic battle. I'd want the music fully orchestrated, though, but knowing Nintendo, they'd probably just stick to midi.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
