A Giant WORM? OH come on... that's the lamest possible giant monster next to Baby Godzilla.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh I see the edit now. Well still I was definetly drawn in when there was that explosion. It looked at first like some lame romance or 'road-trip' movie, but then I was starting to think through the commercial of what it could be about.

Heroes, Lost, Godzilla and even the generic "giant earthquake" movie all went through my mind. Can't wait to see more.

The rumors about it being related to Ctuhulu has me pretty interested.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

What if they don't even show the monster at all? Wouldn't that be a huge disappointment. HAHAH. But this reminds me of American Godzilla (GINO). Everyone was so hyped to see how he looked since he wasn't shown in the trailers but a lot of people were disappointed. But this is a bit different, there's no name for the monster so there's no way for anyone to anticipate what kind of monster it'll be.
There's a big difference:

First, we KNEW it was Godzilla, we just didn't get an idea of how it would be until the movie came out. The marketing, if you might remember, was focused on how big it was in real life (Such as hoisting up a picture of its eye however many stories high in NYC), where as in this movie, we don't even have any conclusive idea of WHAT it is.

Only things we know so far for sure:
1. Its big
2. Its Powerful
3. Its Alive ()

I am really looking forward to this next month. While I really hope it would be Cthulhu, its probably not going to be based on anything in existing media, as J.J.Abrams did say he wanted something original. I wanna know more secrets and tidbits, but at the same time, I kinda wanna go into the movie not knowing anything else.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

"Oh my God... It's... it's..!"

"What? What is it!?"

"STUFF!"

"Wrong... it's MORE STUFF! More than last time!!"

"But I thought we destroyed all that stuff!"

"No... this is different. Different stuff."

"Oh m-aggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

I hate to say it, but all of the movies based of Lovecraft stuff...have been utterly fucking terrible.

Prove me wrong.
I didn't know there was a SINGLE movie based on Lovecraft mythos.

Oh and on that (now fake) picture showing the monster, I also remebering seeing a line-up of various mutations or growth stages of the Metroid from the Metroid Series, and it looked very similar. I can't find the pic though, maybe someone else can?

I was speaking idiomatically.

Are you guys that desperate to put a face onto the monster that you'll actually start believing that it looks like something that it isn't?

I mean, burn me at the stake if it does happen to be a giant, mutated whale, but seriously people...look at the .gif on the last page. That thing is way too vertical and slender to even be considered a whale...

The shoulderblades on it's back, perhaps wings or whatnot...it isn't no whale. I'm as psyched to find out what this beast is as much as the next person in this thread...but you know what, ten to one odds say that we won't even SEE the damn thing in it's full glory at all in the film. Perhaps a face, or a tail, or a leg...but never the whole thing.
Uh, dude... I meant the drawing. You know, the one that Divest brought up? Sheesh.

Wow, its so close now. I can hardly wait!

As an added bonus, there's going to be a teaser trailer for the new Star Trek movie that's going to be shown exclusively before Cloverfield.

Quote:
"Way back, J.J. was like 'When Cloverfield comes out, Star Trek will be on it,'" Reeves said of his mysterious monster flick, which will hit theaters on 1.18.08 with the Star Trek trailer attached. "I was like 'That's a terrific idea; that's exciting'. So, I've known for a long, long, time that was their plan, and I've just recently seen bits of the teaser. I think it's amazing, and it looks pretty incredible."

"I think people are going to be very excited," he said, offering a sneak preview. "It's a teaser, you know, it's a teaser trailer. But still, I was like 'Wow!' Just the scope of it, the scale of it, you just look at it and it's so elegantly done."

There's talk at my work about everyone going as a group on Friday to see the movie, so I might do that If I do, I'll be sure to post a spoiler-free quick review on how the movie was for the thread.

Oh man, I am SO tempted to go straight to the theater from work, but I'll probably go tomorrow night. I guess I'll try and post on my reactions (Spoiler free if possible, or not, depending...) after I see the movie.
