I hope Nintendo is just hiding a whole slew of characters from us because if theres only 24...thats going to be very very boring...
Wow, how selfish can you get? Judging a game as 'boring' because it has less then an arbitrary number of characters? I feel a bit insulted here as a prospective game designer (No I'm by no means one yet, but its my career path)

Of course, given that I am striving to reach that goal, I should know to expect this kind of Criticism. However, if someone said something like "Smash Bros Brawl needs to have a wide range of characters to add diversity, so that players have a good selection of styles to choose from in terms of fighting ability, more-so then what we've seen so far", then that would be a valid argument, and good input (If they were to expand upon that statement).

Saying a game is boring because it has less then X number of characters is NOT.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, I guess I got a little worked up. I definitely want to see more characters, but it just ticked me off that you would say that the game would be boring if it had less then however many playable characters.
Well that's been cleared up.

Uh... the Graphics ARE Improved.

Well, time to nitpick through the commercials and see what kind of stuff I can find. Disclaimer: some or most of this probably has been mentioned elsewhere:

First Commercial:
- When Princess Peach uses her Peach Bomber Attack, instead of an explosion, there will be Rose Petals that appear.
- Lightbeam Sword glows Blue and is Straight (Not Curved) when Idle (That is, when someone isn't attacking)
- On Pit's Stage, Giga Bowser has the ability to smash the floating platforms.
- The WarioWare Stage shows Japanese... Hiranaga (?) Text when the stage changes.
- Giant Metroid is an Item.
- At the Pokemon Stage where Groudon Appears, the player controlling Squirtle has the name "zenigame".
This is the only time in the commercial that a name different from the default appears. Its significance is unknown.
- Price for the game is 6,800 Yen.

Second Commercial:
- Bananas are an Item.
- As with Melee, the Pokemon Gym Stage shows a video of the character on
a screen in the background.
- Tiny Bowser confirms the Mushroom Item is returning.
- Yoshi's Classic Stage from the N64 Smash Bros is returning.
- Kirby's Link Hat uses Link's Bow power.

Third Commercial:
- Oddly, it shows all three of the Trainer's pokemon on the stage at the same time, following Yoshi. This probably was done specifically for the commercial, unless the ability to have all three of them on the stage at once is possible. While this is shown as true for the Final Smash, what they were doing right now seemed different.
- Ike is carrying a large Present, probably a variation on the Wooden Box Item.
- Diddy is shown lying on his side for several seconds. I'm not sure if this may be a taunt, or specifically made for the commercial, or something else.
- On the Pokemon Stage, an Snowflake Icon appears on the back of the stage (On the video screen) to indicate the 'winter' theme of the stage appearing.

Yeah, not much new I could find. As far as the Chaos emerald goes, I looked all over the second commercial but I couldn't find it.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

That's not a smash attack, that's her Peach Bomber attack. The petals would be replacing the explosion that once erupted from her behind. I always thought that was a little weird.
Really? Well I guess I should correct my post then.

I imagine it will be translated to something like "Stay Dry" (or whatever) since Nintendo of America has never left Japanese in localized games.
Well, to nitpick, there IS the option of using Japanese characters in Smash Bros Melee, along with the Pokemon Games IIRC.

Quote:
"Zenigame" is what Squirtle is originally called in the Japanese versions of Pokémon games.
Hmm, seems odd they would have that specific name in Japanese while you have ICECLIMBER and MARIO, etc., in English.

Quote:
Don't you mean Pokémon Stadium? :P
Gym, Stadium, same difference.

Quote:
You're thinking about this way too much. It's most likely just three people playing as the Pokémon Trainer, each with a different Pokémon out. The other person is playing as Yoshi.
Well now it makes perfect sense. I guess I was trying to see something
more then was there, because it struck me as odd. (It stood out).

Quote:
Yeah, I couldn't find it either. I tried pausing right at the start of where the Lylat Cruise was being shown in the second video. But either I wasn't fast enough or the guy that mentioned it was seeing things.
That reminds me, I forgot to mention this, but I looked through the other two trailers for the parts that featured that stage and I STILL couldn't find anything. A screenshot from whoever mention that would be helpful.

The only thing I can see that would even look close to a chaos emerald shape would be in the first video.

But thats the fan
On the right is a Fan, on the left is Lip's Stick (Which when struck onto an opponent, causes a small flower to grow on their head).

I'm glad there's more variety to the Fighting Polygon Alloy Team now. Before it was just Male and Female. Stealth Confirmation of Captain Falcon was nice.

Also on the IMDB Entry for Smash Bros, it says it had Leon S. Kennedy, Krystal, and Kazuya Mishima of all people for Voice Actor credits. I don't think
Kazuya is actually in there (Maybe it was a joke?) but Leon has been established as being on Nintendo consoles (The Entire Resident Evil series in fact) so that, while unlikely, is not out of the question.
Krystal is the... blue fox girl thing from the Star Fox series, so I don't doubt she'll be in the game as an assist trophy or something.

I know, its not coming from the most reliable source, but still... Leon Scott Kennedy? (Scott apparently being his middle name).

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

The space picture leaves open some Mario Galaxy influenced levels, I feel, even though space is recurring in different games. Maybe it's just Mario's pose in it...
Looks just like part of the Lylat Cruiser stage where they pass over the planet, but a Galaxy level is a possibility.

Spoiler:
It is definitely a fake. How would they get the rights to put in "Geno" into SSB (assuming it is the same Geno I am thinking about from Super Mario RPG).
Uh, by asking for the rights? Just like they did with Snake and Sonic?

Spoiler:
FUCK YEAH, MEGAMAN! If True

From the above supposed list,
Spoiler:
who are "Sukapon", "Takamaru", "Ray 01", and "Andy"?

I'm a little let down by Snake's Final Smash, but its decent enough in its own right.
I was hoping for a Metal Gear to appear and just shoot missiles at everything (Since
Fox's Final Smash brings in the Landwalker, a giant vehicle). Ahh well.

I find that 20 dollar Walmart thing hilarious.

Terms of Use - Security & Privacy - Help - Wal-Mart

Yeah, ain't happening, guys. Besides I'd much rather support Nintendo on this excellent game completely.

Additional Spam:
looooooooooooooooooooooooool bumped up to $49.82 YOU LOSE. ='DDDDD
My order for the game still shows it at $20... so maybe I lucked out? In any case, if it does bump back up I'll just cancel it.

Wal-mart cancelled my order. Ahh well. Guess I'll pay for the rest on my Gamestop preorder then

Also, Gamestop is apparently having a Buy one Xbox Game (Used) get one free. The lesser valued one is the one that's free of course, offer good until the 17th.

Now getting back to the thread: I would have really expected Cap. Olimar to be like an assist trophy and not actually playable. This makes me wonder what other characters are still in store (That are not third-party).

Is this the Brawl arrangement of the Kirby Air Ride theme?
Probably NOT, but it gives you a general idea of what it might sound like... then again they could go totally and do something like Donkey Kong. "OMG ITS NOT EVEN THE SAME SONG" "I KNOW AWESOME MCTAWSOME"

Localization can be a bitch.

Actually though, this works out better for us, since they have more time to perfect the game. I'd rather have an AWESOME game released later then a GOOD game released now.

The internet however, is probably going berzerk right now.

Given that Sakurai announced the delay last night, TONIGHT is the night to see if someone spectacular is shown... then again, probably not =\

Jam it back in, in the dark.
