Spec Ops: The Line - 10 points
An engaging, heavy, harrowing journey into the heart of darkness and a broken mind, with a thing or two to say about the way videogames handle war and violence in general. It's a decent third-person shooter at best, but in terms of pacing, narrative and emotional impact, it's a trip well worth taking.

I would be unsurprised to discover that at least one of the developers kept in mind this quote attributed to the late General Robert E. Lee: "It is good that war is so terrible, lest we grow too fond of it."... and if driving that point home was part of their project goals, it's safe to say they succeeded. To be fair, the Ace Combat games touch on this too; a couple of specific instances come to mind:
- Ace Combat Zero: Mission 11 - Inferno (part 1; part 2): two words: Dresden. Redux.
- Ace Combat 5: Mission 12 - Powder Keg (video): you and your squad are bombing the entrances to a massive subterranean complex... and thanks to the Enemy Chatter trope, you know exactly how bad it is for them down there.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
