Had lots of fun with SR2; still haul it out every now and again. From what's been shown of this entry so far, it would appear that Volition has topped themselves. It's on the queue after things like EDF: Insect Armageddon and WH40K: Space Marine and Bastion...

How ya doing, buddy?

Anyway, because I am obsessed I found some gameplay footage from Gamescom (I think)...
Armed hoverbike? Acquirable STAG battledress? Those are just two of the things I'll be going for when I get this game.

And now, some things that would not be unwelcome in SR3:
  • the ability to change/remove decals on Anchors, Five-Os, et cetera - you could in the first game, but this is oddly not the case in SR2.
  • the return of the Interest - seen only in SR1, and then only as part of Escort or Hijacking.
  • suppressors - I can't be the only one who was annoyed at the one and only appearance of a silenced pistol in SR2 being in a cutscene. Which would naturally lead to...
  • San Andreas-style stealth mechanics - if Saints Row is all about giving players options, do remember that some of us like to be Sneaky Basterds.
That said, who else is picking this up on the 360? Two against Steelport's gangs (missions aside) sounds like a lot of fun.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I seriously dig the whole weird Tron thing they have going. Those cars and jackets better be available in game.
Seconded. Not only for yourself, but the Saints as well (replace the blue with purple, and the stars with similarly-treated fleurs-de-lis).

I seem to recall one of the pre-release claims made about Saints Row 2 being that any article of clothing you saw in the world could be found for your own use... this not quite being the case was matter for minor disappointment, and the attempts to 'fix' this via DLC were, while passable, not all they could have been. Case in point, whose idea was it to make the SWAT battledress non-customizable? Another... well, let me put it this way, if you want a proper police uniform, that's what the 'FUZZ glitch' is for.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The laughable new Community Q&A is up, including such important questions as "Can you be a girl?" and "Can you buy buildings?"

Not sure what community is asking these questions but it sure isn't the Saints Row one.
I'm glad to see that yes, they do seem to have learned their lesson in terms of uniform customization. Also, the achievements seem to have found their way into the wild; watch for the amusing winks and nods to other creations therein.

RUMOR: THQ PLANS DLC RAPE...
There, highlighted the most important part, given the lack of hard information. As rumor does not necessarily equal fact, further investigation is of course in order. Some, such as the Steelport Gangs Pack, could be early access to unlocks that would normally come with beating a particular gang (much like the gang vehicles in the previous games) or things you'd collect over the course of normal gameplay (I can't be the only one who grabbed the Peacekeeper (SWAT van) when it came time to flee the courthouse with Johnny Gat in tow). Others would make sense as elective DLC (for instance, the Unlockable Pack, as Saints Row doesn't have New Game+).

On a lighter note...

Yes, that's really in the game; and yes, it's probably acquirable if this achievement is any indication.

I was speaking idiomatically.

New trailer out obviously mocking the recent Battlefield and CoD trailers....
That was certainly amusing. I'm also reminded that Volition confirmed something surprising about STAG's small arms: they have infinite ammo (source). While this might be surprising at first glance, it certainly fits the gameworld... after all, I'm sure most of us who played SR2 took the time to nail the infinite-ammo unlocks.

And since the airborne base is apparently acquirable, I wonder if it comes with a 'STAG' aesthetic for the Saints...

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Wherein are to be found several tidbits, such as confirmation of the Kobra's return, a glimpse of the new RPG-lite mechanics, and the fact of gang customization being a bit more fleshed out. Having seen that, I'll raise these two articles from Destructoid.

Got some new videos here...
I'll see those, and raise:

YouTube Video
Gameplay going from an early crib to (and through most of) a mission. Note how missions come to you via your PDA instead of your having to find them out in the world. Also shown are some weapon mods (tactical lights, explosive(?) pistol rounds), and the fact that you can kill someone holding a human shield without killing the latter.

YouTube Video
Initiation Station trailer. Also happens to show off silenced pistols and a SAW (or just an assault rifle with a box magazine) sporting a mated launcher and red dot sight.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Gamespot, as you might have heard, has been giving away IS access codes to its members; as a result the roster of uploaded characters has, ah, expaneded. I was at once amused and surprised to find this rendering of Hatsune Miku...

They also have an 'hour one' video of sorts which covers not only the bank robbery and that pleasant flight, but your first orders of business once you have boots on the ground in Steelport.

I might rent it if there's enough of you fags playing it.
So far it's been a blast; feel free to pick it up. Like the previous outing, it can be more fun with another player - if you do get this, let me know and we can set something up.
