A friend and I were discussing this series (briefly) and agreed that it would be one hell of a twist were this 'Celestial Being' to turn out to be the unknowing stalking horse of that world's analogue of
SPECTRE. It's a simple plan, really:
- weaken various governments and transnational corporations;
- take advantage of the resulting vacuums to slip in your own puppets;
- dispose of the 'stalking horse';
- Profit!
To which yet another colleague replied, "Ironically, you'd see that plotline in SRW before a 'serious' Gundam program."
On a completely different note, it occurs to me that an MSG take on
Kelly's Heroes might be very interesting indeed. After all, the Principality of Zion's Zabi family were wealthy, especially after their successful raid on Earth's resources (early in the One Year War). But Side-3 (Zion) the colony has been pictured as ridiculously below the poverty line in later series (especially in Char's Counterattack). So, where did all that money go off to?
