I believe the Shadow Hearts series (expect the bullshit that is From the New World) is more interesting than say, Xenosaga. I just heard.
Topic-related: Sonic, definitely Sonic. Loved 2 and 3. Just going through the stages, getting emeralds, trying to get 50 rings and just mow everything down and earning up to 30 lives in one game is something I remembered fondly. And now it is gone (its simplicity and charm that is). Jam it back in, in the dark.
