Star Ocean 2 for the PSP better have Ernest OUT. Fuck, worst character in-game.

Either way, a PSP port sounds good to me. Now if they only have a Thousand Arms and a Lunar 2 for the PSP..

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Why argue about SO4 going multiplatform when we all know the story is going to be utterly ridiculous again. And the characters just drip of fanservice.

I say let the game go on multiple consoles. Better market coverage that way (and hilarity spreading).

Like Mo0 said, the plot twist of SO3 and the resulting apathy in it all was ughmode, especially the twist (aka they were late years ago).

Also love the futuristic theme of SO4 and you find out the characters still uses bows instead of pistols (can swords be lightsabers though).

EDIT: Trailer up on Live marketplace for SO4. In before bitching.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

@Terminous

That comment of yours is really stupid. It's just laughable. Square Enix already stated at the moment that S.O 4 would be coming exclusively to the 360. So I'd say, why not let them? And besides you really don't know that for sure.
Sorry for not being a dork like you. Guess having a life is a downside by itself.

I don't get why you're so fucking antsy about this bullshit, but whatever.

--

This shit be better than Infinite Bullshittery. Massive potential for awesome, yet the story will be hilarious, as usual.

Most amazing jew boots

So um.. This game comes out tomorrow. Just got a few copies today but my friend couldn't release it yet so I'll get my copy first thing tomorrow morning.
First Depature anyway. Because Second Evolution is coming out January.

Still getting FD anyway tomorrow; shit's gonna be great.

Dunno about the hate in FD because I'm fine with it. Still with them 3 folks for now and had to adjust to its battle system (started with SO2). Question: does that gauge under your MP also appeared on the original too? Just curious!

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I heard that SO4 will run on IU (Infinite Undiscovery) engine so kinda skeptical.

Then again, they should at least release a demo, but this sort of thing happening will be vague at best.

In a special interview with Xbox Japan, weeks before the game's release, game producer Yoshinori Yamagishi revealed that the team began planning out Star Ocean: The Last Hope immediately after they finished developing Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, so actual development time took about 5 years. The game uses an improved version of the game engine used in Infinite Undiscovery, where it is able to generate much better graphics, and the stunning expression of light in real time. He also mentioned that the biggest problem the team encountered while creating the game is capacity, as making a RPG on a latest generation console requires vast amounts of data and coding thanks to the complexity of graphics and animations. The game will also be running at a constant 60 fps. Pre-rendered movies are done by a collaboration between tri-Ace and Visual Works, while character design and illustration (only in the Japanese version) is handled by Katsumi Enami, best known for her illustration work in the light novel and anime series Baccano!.

May be true I guess. Don't know Gamasutra's rep for the info to be considered credible. So basically yeah, an improved version of the IU engine.

Yeah DN. It is the other way around.

The NA version has CG with the menu being the darker one (though I have to applaud S-E for reminding me what game I am playing when I hit the menu button. Thanks S-E!) while the Jap version has the animu graphics and whatnot.

Another difference would be the removal of animu portraits during dialogue.

Jap:

NA:

In before this gets removed soon.

Just watched the video review from X-Play. Apparently this game has a lot of innuendo.

"This heat brought me closer to everyone in here".

Whoever has the game already and does see innuendo falling left and right, post 'em here.

While I have to admire the whole graphically beautiful thing the game has going on, I must admit the movement in the overworld feels a bit.. "clunky". The IU engine is reminiscent and such (thus the clunkiness).

I did Battle Simulator thrice (2 in menu 1 in actual game) and fuck damn, the camera. THE CAMERA. Fuck it, the camera is a mess, holy shit. I'll probably stick to the angle lock camera because this free view setting is driving me insane. Will be hard seeing enemies, pulling off blindside attacks and whatnot.

Since it follows IU in a way, gotta also lower the glare in it. It's too bright by default (Personal issue).

Otherwise the game so far is a-ok. I just hoped the experience was a bit more fluid, from combat to overworld exploration, is all.

EDIT: Yeah, Welch. I get the feeling that yet again, she will grate my nerves. But I can't pass judgement yet on that. Her design, like DN said, took a 180 turn.. now she looks like a 13 year old boy.

How ya doing, buddy?

The whole "game is freezing up" I heard (from a friend) depends on the console. Mine is obviously older so prone to freezing. This plus the lack of a lot of save points always equal to a massive headache, especially when your characters are 5 levels ahead or the save point is like 10 areas away.

Anyway, I finished the game last night.

Spoiler:
I like how Faize turns out to be the final enemy and that his death (the second time. The first was when you thought he was dead when a Phantom ship scores a direct hit on his craft) is what drove Edge to convince the Kenny hero captain to make the Underdeveloped Planet Preservation Pact. So far, I got 6 endings (Reimi, Bacchus, Meracle, Sarah, Myuria and Lymle) and the bonus one for Crowe I will get soon since the only thing missing for me to do is put funeral Morphus flowers on the wreckage of his craft (yeah, he dies too).

Now dabbling in the Cave of Seven Stars and goddamn, I will finish Gabriel Celeste here before I hit level 150 or close to 150 anyway. Game is beginning to get fun past this point. Bacchus' Black Hole Sphere -> Irradiation combo is a killer; his rush gauge reaches 100 in 5 seconds. Preferred BEAT mode for him is Burst. Arumat has now the Dragon Roar ability which is fucking broken. BROKEN. Imagine him with Berserk + ATK boost at level 10 both and holy shit, he becomes a murderer. Just link Diabolic Edge -> Aerial Gallows -> Earth Glaive -> Dragon Roar for massive amounts of fun.

I like that they will include both the Japanese and English voice over. Wish more game would have that option.
Dual language doesn't mean anything if the story is shit from the get-go. Expect generic voices.

Still laughing at the PS3 release though. Betting on extra content being wholly irrelevant.
