I wonder, what do you mean by the sound being "filtered" properly? I would certainly hope that the DAC of a USB speaker would be performing the proper filtering. (Such as high or low-pass filtering, etc.)

That's exactly what I suggested, but he became upset after seeing the price.
 I have a pair of nice active monitors (BX8as) on my desk right now. They're really quite awesome. They put out enough bass to vibrate my entire room. They're not very euphonic though. Then again, they're really not supposed to be. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
