You know that as soon as I saw this, I had to reply.
First off, what is your price range? Second, what kind of sound signature do you prefer? More bass? Less bass? More treble? Or more balanced? Third, what kind of music do you normally listen to? Fourth, you say that canal types are too painful. But really, which ones have you tried? The higher-end ones all have interchangeable eartips for small, medium, and large ear canals, with soft, medium and firm tip hardnesses. Would you be interested in trying something like this:  Jam it back in, in the dark.
