I'm at around 170 hours right now. I've been letting my characters auto-level since last night, and the three that have been fighting are in the mid-eighties right now. Not bad! They should be at level 99 by the end of tomorrow. And when I'm done, I can sell all of the festering flesh and crossbows for big, big bucks.

Why do it manually when you can set it to go over and over again automatically? Steal doesn't always work on the first try; going into the menu over and over again is annoying. I use Gambits for everything, attacking, healing, buffing, rezzing, you name it. The only things that aren't gambited are black magic attacks, because they are almost useless. (Scathe is much fun to use, though. There's nothing like swinging around a giant laser of death.)

Sadly, I've never chained higher than Arc Blast, which is actually stronger than Torrent, I think. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Man, I finally defeated Behemoth King. Being in the high 90's certainly helped a lot. The 500,000gil gift was well worth it. The Rod of Faith seems kind of useless, though. Aside from a small (very small) boost in MP and Magick Attack, it doesn't really do anything. I suppose I can attack myself with it to gain Faith without a spell, but why bother?

God damn, I finally defeated Zodiark. Even with all of my characters at level 92 with black masks it sucked, hard. Toward the end, he never let down his physical paling, and the instant death effect from Darkja made the masks almost useless. But I kept rezzing, and I eventually defeated him with some Scathe Motes, Heh.

I'm talking on the Hell Wrym now. I'm doing pretty good damage. This shouldn't take too long.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
You know, his attack "Invert" has really been a blessing in this battle. I was wondering why Ashe (my healer) never lost any MP, and now I know why. Invert instantly restores all of my MP, and it takes me less than a second to heal my health back up to normal. Thanks, Hell Wyrm!
Double Post: Well, I beat him. Piece O' Cake. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
All right! I am well on my way to procuring the Tournesol. I already have three Gemsteels and three Empyreal Souls, now all I need are three Serpentariuses and that will be that! Unfortunately, the snake skins needed to make the Serpentariuses are proving to be the most annoying thing to get so far, because the Wild Snakes that I need to get them from are pretty rare. Any tips for this?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I've been trying exactly that, he has only appeared once so far; I can't get him to reappear. I'll just have to keep trying.

I finally got the damn Sword. This thing rules. 140 attack and 25 evasion. Now I feel the need to go fight a powerful foe.

Would Darkblades and Cat-ear hoods be useful for fighting him, assuming I didn't let him get out of hand?
Double Post: Hey, this works pretty well. I'm getting 3-4 hits in a row constantly, for 9999 damage each. If I leave occasionally and don't let him get all riled up, this shouldn't be too hard at all. Long, but not hard. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
In case anyone is wondering, the setup I'm using right now is: Everyone is set to buff themselves, not others. They all have Self: Haste, Curaga, Bravery, Protect, Shell, Esuna and Bubble. They also all have Arise. Basch also had Libra for the beginning of the fight, because I was using him to set off all of the traps. All of them have Yagyu Darkblades (which took a good while to attain, but worth it, IMO) and Cat-Ear hoods.
I'm having no trouble staying alive and the constant attacking means my MP is nearly always full. My characters are spread out in a triangle so AoE attacks won't get more than one of them. Most amazing jew boots |
Well, I didn't get them all at once. I already had one from way earlier when I killed my first bombshell (I nearly died fighting the Aeronite that was also there; this was when I was first able to access that part of the mines), and I got another when I went back through the mines again to face Gilgamesh (pure luck, that) and it took me around 45 minutes to an hour (roughly) of going back and forth waiting for the Bomb to respawn and seeing if it would drop a Blade when I killed it, to get the last one. I won't bother trying to get any more.
Double Post: Hey, how long do I have to wait for him to cool down? He was spamming Deathstrike like mad, so I left and came back, but he was still doing it. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I'd love to have two Zodiac Spears!Right now, Yiazmat is at about 45% HP left, roughly. He would have been nearly dead by now, but I had to go run an errand. He is getting a ton of one-hit kills with his regular attacks, and it's kind of annoying. Edit: One question: Can I leave the island and come back? I'd like to go and do something else for a while. How the hell do I beat Omega? It does enough damage to take away more than half of my total HP even when using a Bubble Belt. I can't revive fast enough to stay in there for more than a few seconds. Which pisses me off because I'm at level 99 with a boatload of powerful weapons.
Edit: Reverse/Decoy seems to be working, for now... Double Post: YES. Motherfucking piss ass son of a bitch! What a cheap-ass bastard! That was the lamest thing ever. I'm glad he's dead. I hope it hurt. There seems to be a problem, though. I didn't get the Omega Crest. How stupid they leave it on the ground for you to pick up after an intense battle, when all you're thinking of is getting the hell out of there. Fucking shit. It should go into your inventory automatically. Now I'll never be able to get the Wyrmhero Blade. I'm almost red in the face as I type this. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I used a save from Gamefaqs to take a look at the Wyrmhero Blade (because I'll never, ever see it otherwise) and it's not as good as I thought it would be. It has a high attack, 50 evade, and added holy damage, but it drastically slows down its user. With it equipped, it will take several seconds to charge up your action gauge. Seriously, truly, a team member with Wrymhero Blade + Haste will attack more slowly than a normal member with Slow. I have tested this.

I got my Excalibur without a Diamond Armlet. In fact, the Diamond Armlet has gotten me more Knots of Rust from otherwise good chests than I received during the entire game before I bought the Armlet.

Axes can do a lot more damage. But they can also do hardly any damage at all. I found them to not be worth the trouble.
Your safest bet is to just fill out the entire license grid. FELIPE NO |
I put the Mousse to sleep and just used magic on it until it died. Easy as pie. All I had to do was equip the Nihopalaoa on Basch (my party leader) and use a Remedy on Mousse, inflicting a huge amount of negative status effects.

I finally defeated Yiazmat. I hope I never have to do anything like that again.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Omega was easy once I figured out what the trick was. (I had both of my other team members cast reverse and decoy on me, and he went down without too much trouble.) Yiazmat was just stupid the way he kept getting 10+ hit combos on me. I had to keep running away to rebuff. Reducing the damage done from 9999 to 6999 was as stupid as hell, Cyclone was stupid, the one hit kills were stupid, the massive non-stop combos were stupid; the whole thing just stunk of lame and fail.
But the stupidest thing of all was when he would cast Reflectga on my party, forcing me to use immediately turn my gambits off and use Dispelga on them. I then had to run away and rebuff, losing a character or two or even my whole party in the process. Once, I didn't realize what he had done, and I reflected a Renew onto him, fully restoring his health. Good thing I saved... All in all, it took me 15 stages to kill him. Burn in hell, Yiazmat. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
