So what exactly is the multiplayer like in this game? Kinda like Diablo or something of that sort?

Also, since I'm a bum and haven't read up on this game at all, does this do drops Diablo-style with unique mods on it instead of just giving you twenty million identical pistols like Fallout 3?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Thoughts on how long you guys will keep playing this? I'm in the middle of FFXII and don't want to bail on it, but this looks like something I'd really enjoy playing after I finish.

Hey, if anyone else wants to go in on a four pack with me, let me know. I don't know if I want to pick up L4D2 or not. I'm still a bit burned out from the first and I think this game would be a fun change of pace.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm in, especially if we do it at the preorder price!

I gave the game a shot this morning. It seems pretty rad so far, though I have to say when I first saw a green item I was all "HOLY COW A SET ITEM WHAT LUCK"

I went with a sniper and seem to be having much better luck with a sniper rifle and assault rifle combo. For people later in the game, do I have any compelling reason to stick with pistols other than the kinda mediocre buffs I can spend my skill points on? I like sniping shit from far away and then finishing them off as they run towards me with the assault rifle.

Also, can't believe how obvious they made it that this game was made for the console. No mouse wheeling in menus!? Looking forward to trying out a bunch of those modifications taco posted later tonight/tomorrow to see how much better the game plays.

Also, anyone know if this was meant to be played on a widescreen monitor? I'm playing on a 17" at 1280x1024 and the screen feels really cluttered when infoboxes pop up.

Try running the game in windowed mode or see if there's some way to disable the game using both cores (if it is trying). I've had to do similar fixes in L4D and TF2 to get stable framerates and it made things A+++.

Almost 100 percent certain that was a Source Engine issue, though, wasn't it RR?
No clue if it was. I've only had the problem with some Source games and not others, so it's hard for me to say.

The game seems to give a very narrow window for levels. Like, I'm level 15 right now, and I don't think I'd be able to hold out very well with a team of level 18s. It definitely feels like a game where you're best having a solid set of friends to play with every night since once you fall behind, you're going to be way behind.

Also had some frustrating issues with getting killed after the last enemy is dead. I just got the key to the mine, and I managed to kill the boss with a ton of HP left, but apparently he had thrown two grenades off of the wall behind me and wound up blowing me up. It gave me the opportunity for the saving shot, or whatever it's called, but there was nothing around so I had to lose a decent chunk of money respawning.

Also not too fond of how enemies will respawn if you leave a zone and come back, but all of the ammo and treasure chests won't.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If you exit out of the game and come back in, though, everything DOES come back.
I know, but it seems kinda silly that after I kill a boss I should save and quit the game then reload. If they're going to respawn all of the badguys, they should really up their ammo drops or something of that sort. It kinda sucked being almost out of ammo with my normal guns and having to go with a crappy shotgun instead because I had nothing else to use.

Does anyone else feel all their bloodwing does is flap all over the place, give away your location, and only fly into some dude right before you're going to snipe him?

Hopefully they'll buff it up a little bit with a patch. Right now I hardly ever use him and can't figure out why I should bother. Then again, many of the perks for the hunter seem mediocre at best.

I'm kinda tempted to just start over as one of the other classes since the sniper rifle seems to be only moderately decent, and his only skill that's actually useful for the sniper rifle that other classes don't have is Focus, which reduces sway. The skills I'm most looking forward to is Relentless, but a "few seconds" seems to only be about five seconds, which means you need to be a kickass sniper to nail one, find another one, and nail him in the head for it to be worthwhile.

I think he's one of those classes that could do well in multiplayer, but trying to do it solo is a bit frustrating.

I've seen some Hunters on second playthrough with batshit insane Bloodwings. Buzzing about 100% chance to Daze on 9 targets, up to 9k damage each target, 1 second cooldown on the skill.
That sounds like a pretty solid use of the skill point reset, actually. Start off by buffing up your weapons, then once you can get your bloodwing to attack multiple targets and can speed up its cooldown switch over to him for your main damage dealing. I'm underwhelmed by the skills which increase X stat after killing an enemy as a hunter since, generally, I'm using a slow rate of fire rifle and can only get one or two shots off. The one which restores my HP is pretty nice, though I don't know how useful it'll be in the long run.

Just started a new game with a Soldier and found the going a lot easier than as a hunter.

But it seems most enemies are clairvoyant and know where I am before I even get there, so most of my time was spent running backwards frantically trying to shoot guys through the head.
Try crouching when you're rounding corners. It'll let you get one shot off without them seeing you. It is kinda annoying how they know IMMEDIATELY where the shot came from, though.

I'm using a Soldier now and it's way easier than when I was a hunter. I seem to be getting way better drops, too. Like, I had a better sniper rifle on my soldier at level 17 than my hunter was able to get by level 21. =\

Holy crap, going through Old Haven now and the game suddenly got a million times better. Loot's way nicer and enemies are actually putting up a fight.

Game actually seems to be easier on my second time through. Almost finishing my second playthrough with my soldier and hit level 50 around Old Haven.

Also a little disappointed how infrequently I find new weapons which replace what I'm using. For the entire second playthrough I've relied upon an assault rifle with +2 to fire, ~93 accuracy, a decent sized clip, scope, and bursts of 5 shots. It does a lot less raw damage than many other guns I've found, but its accuracy and rate of fire has made it untouchable by anything else this whole game. With around level 35 assault rifle and level 4 of the assault skill I don't even use my sniper rifle anymore.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I never really found shotguns all that useful, I have to say. Generally they'll either have really high damage but horrid accuracy and shot speed, or be pretty accurate and have a decent rate of fire, but not put out enough damage. I mean, sure the shotguns I find do something like 150x7 damage, but they only fire one round a second with ~60 accuracy, but I can also find automatic rifles with 200+ damage, 10+ rounds a second, and accuracy over 88. That means I can use it for both intermediate range as well as close range.

Debating now if I want to give the siren or brick a shot. I figure my play style will probably be similar enough with both of them as with the hunter and soldier, so I don't know if it'll be worth doing since I'm probably going to wind up playing the whole thing solo anyway. =\

I did have a four player game the other day with some buddies from Left 4 Dead and have to say it was really rad. The increased difficulty and extra tactics you get from having to deal with weak points on enemies and whatnot really makes it more interesting. Wish more of you guys played in the early AM hours.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Zombie Island just came out for the PC today with a $10 price tag. I saw on the Steam page this one also has SecureROM on it, so you can only activate the expansion five times.

I don't know if I'll be buying it or not. I've finished the game twice with my soldier, just finished it the first time through with Lilith and got most of the way through with my hunter.

Additional Spam:
Cool, apparently the patch they put out this morning may install SecurROM on Steam versions of Borderlands that don't even have the DLC: NeoGAF - View Single Post - Borderlands | The Official Thread - More guns than the population of the Netherlands

Did they add anything to make the game challenging enough that I'd want to go through it again with all my buddies I couldn't play with before?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
