I could see a L4D Time Attack or Endurance mode getting popular on maps like that.

Tried out the demo tonight. It was pretty fun, though I don't know if it has the replayability that TF2 or other online FPS games do. Maybe once you add in that the zombies can be other players it might get more interesting, but I'm curious as to how they're going to go about balancing it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I was amazed at how much easier the lower difficulty levels are compared to Expert. I joined an Expert game with a few friends and we did a pretty good job of getting raped repeatedly, but then turning down the difficulty one notch we were able to make it through pretty fine.

Hopefully some of the later levels in the full version will even out the difficulty.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

How's everyone's experiences been playing L4D with random people from the world? I'm generally on pretty late, even for my fellow west coasters, so I'd pretty much just have to play with random people most of the time.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Ok, just bought L4D, so now this better be the best damned thing since sliced TF2 otherwise I'm going to be .

Also, not going to get to play at all this (long) weekend since my girlfriend is coming over.

For any of you guys here I'm not currently buddies with, I'm currently: [WTFk] RacinReaver

Alright, just tried to play this darned game in single player and was met with this weird stuttering issue where every few seconds the game would pause and sound would loop for 1-5 seconds. The demo ran great, I tried setting graphics settings lower, and I've restarted twice.

Edit: Just tried the game in multiplayer and it did the same fucking thing. Arg.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Yes to both of those, but I found a fix that said to play the game in windowed without borders and you can keep whatever drivers you have as well as multicore on, and it worked for me. Haven't tried multiplayer yet, just went through the first few levels on single player without a problem. Well, other than me apparently sucking compared to when I played the demo, but no PC related issues now.

Anyone else feel that the Versus multiplayer in this game is really frustrating? Like, randomness is good and all, but the massive variability in the size of hordes, stationary zombie placement, and where pickups pop up just feels so freaking frustrating when one team gets raped and the other one hits nothing. Also, sick of playing on servers where the admin's on and sets their spawn time as infected to 10 seconds than then when it's my turn I get 30 second respawns.

I've found the top of the lighthouse to be shitty since if someone gets pounced by a hunter the knockback on you can actually knock you off the ledge. It happened in one game I was playing where one dude was pounced, two of us were knocked off the ledge (and stuck in the HELP ME UP bullshit) and then the tank showed up.

Best spot we found was sitting on top of the big gas tanks in the room where you activate the horde. There's pills, molotovs/pipebombs, gas tanks, and it's up high so infected have a hard time reaching you. We were able to take out all non-tank enemies with the pistols, then would just unload on the tank with autoshotties to take him out really quick. We finally got boned when we got hit by a boomer and didn't hear the tank music until he was punching all four of us in the face at once (around 9 minutes in).

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I've been on recently at early AM hours west coast time (like 6-8AM) since girlfriend hassles me if I want to play at night but we get up for work at 5 AM.

Quote:
That IS a really good spot - the problem is you can only fit one or two people on it. I was surprised as hell to see the horde come busting through the brick wall next to the shelves though.
You can fit two in the corner and two between the two pipes that come out of the wall. If you not in the corner spot you have to watch out for smokers that bust through that brick wall, though.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Is there any way to hook a keyboard and mouse up to a 360 for FPS games? If not, f that.

Hey, if anyone wants a spot filled with maximum gay, you can do the end of Death Toll from the deep part of the water. It's similar to what people do on Dead Air with their backs against empty space, except the infected can't get behind them, and hunters can't pounce in the deep water (though if you're good you can try to pounce from ontop of the house straight onto them for 25 damage).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, I've done that for the Campaign mode, but I imagine it wouldn't work as well in versus. Then again, if you get four people with autoshotties up there, some decent teamwork, and people that know how to use pistols and I could see that spot being pretty solid. Sadly it seems the only maps I'm seeing in versus right now are Dead Air and No Mercy. Dead Air is pretty fun, though there's just so many rooftops to either pull off of or jump off of it can be some pretty great rape.

Oh, and to let anyone know that doesn't currently, if you get set on fire as the tank you can run into the water to put it out. Last time I controlled the tank on the last stage of Death Toll I used that trick twice to let me finish the survivors off.

Wow, more kills with the pistol than everything except for the assault rifle.

What sort of accuracies do you guys get while playing? Recently I've been up around 35-45% with the assault rifle. I've started using the auto-shotgun in versus because it's the best way to take a tank out, but I really like it a lot less against common infected and other special infected (though it does seem to work well against hunters).

Also, the Finales Survived is a little lame there since I hardly ever lose a finale in campaign mode, and they're generally crazy tough in versus. They should really separate the two of them out.

If you don't want to be voted out of every versus game you play, you really should do the single player campaigns first so you can at least know where you'll be best off spawning or where you'll have to watch out for infected.

Hey, L4D2 just announced at E3.

Quote:
POSSIBLY THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN HAPPEN IN THIS GAME: Dead Air Finale, we're the survivors, and I'm on the turret. If you pull turret all the way to the left as far as it will go there's one of those baggage cart things that the Tank can hit. At some point I see the Boomer trying to get behind it, and he cuts behind it. Firing the turret, I push the cart (with the boomer still hiding behind it) all the way against the plane behind it, after a few more seconds the Boomer literally POPS dead from being squished.
I was playing a game where someone did something similar. Except he knocked down three of his teammates. Then he got smoked. Possibly the best finale round I've ever seen.

How ya doing, buddy?

I know if you get boomed right before the tank arrives you won't hear the music. I imagine there's similar issues with the Witch.

SD, do you install the game in any way on your 360? If you were on a PC I'd recommend reinstalling to see if that helps, but I don't know if there's anything like that on a 360.

Also, goddamn, the past two days I've played there's always been at least one person on the other team that intentionally kills themself/gets raped so they just get to play as infected. And they invariably suck as infected, so it's not even like they're having a good time raping us.

Additional Spam:
I just hit up the L4D website and saw they put some info on their blog that hasn't been mentioned here.

Quote:
We've just announced that Left 4 Dead 2 is coming later this year! It's a much larger game than the original, and features new co-op and versus campaigns, all-new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, as well as melee combat. Check out the teaser trailer, and watch this space for more news in the coming days.
I'm guessing new boss zombies would be like alternatives to tanks which could make the game pretty interesting. I'd definitely like to see a randomized boss such that you don't know exactly what you're facing until it's right there going AGHAHAHHAGHGHGHGHAAAA in your face.

I also wonder if they'll port the original L4D maps in to the new game so you can try it out with melee and new items.

Edit again!

Quote:
Set for release on November 17, the title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaw, frying pan, axe, baseball bat, and more.

Introducing the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.
Makes you wonder if they're finally going to enable body collisions.

To eliminate camping as a tactic, the crescendo moments have been rethought. Now you might have to hit a switch that alerts the zombie horde, but then you have to battle your way through a mess of undead in order to hit a second switch that actually stops the zombies from swarming you. In another crescendo moment, there's no switch. Instead, there's a parking lot stuffed with cars, and every one of them has a car alarm.
I think this game might actually get my full $50 (on PC, of course).

Also, witch wandering in in the middle of a horde is going to be loooooooooooool.

Goddamn, do you guys get a lot of 4channers on the 360 version? I had two games in a row where all it was was them shouting shitty memes and furporn sprays on the walls. Every level they'd try to run it, get their asses kicked, and then they'd fail miserably at trying to stop us. Hell, at one point we had one person try to run it alone on our team, get crushed, and then the three of us were able to finish without a problem. Twice they even had three hunters and a smoker, and they still failed.

Man, I was in a game of versus the other day with a bunch of new people. It wasn't so bad, since they were all listening to me and we were able to beat the other team up pretty well. That is until we hit a witch. I haven't failed a crown yet, so I tell them to stand back and just cover me while I go to take her out. Then I right click by accident and melee her in the fucking head. Then I die, my team gets pounced/boomed/smoked and everyone in the game lols at me.

Anyway, I usually play during the early hours of the day (6-9AM Pacific), so if anyone's on around that time you should add me so I don't have to keep playing with shitty randoms.

I'm probably gonna hop on L4D in about 30 minutes since I'm feeling like ass here in my office and am just going to head home to grab some advil and get out of this brutal fluorescent lighting.

Also, yeah, need more games with GFF people since I imagine most of you guys have mics which makes the game about a trillion times better.

Left 4 Dead 'Crash Course' campaign DLC free on PC, $7 on 360 -.this September

New map for L4D with a supposed "streamlined" versus mode that'll make matches only last 30 minutes.

Also $7 for circle owners but free for pc people.
