One time my roommate and I actually started Role Playing in Guild Wars. You know, talking like the NPCs, saying how we needed to do the quest and yearning about whatever stuff we figured adventurers yearned about. It was actually pretty cool, half the team totally hated us and the other half joined in.
I'd say most of my worst experiences online come from abusive admins on FPS servers. I know there's thousands of servers out there that offer the same exact game, but damnit if it's not annoying to be having a great round with a good bunch of people only to have an admin come in and kick anyone with a 1:1 ratio or better. Or they just start kickbanning anyone they think is cheating.
The other biggest frustration is games that don't have a simple mute specific player button. I was playing TF2 yesterday when three dicks join the game and start spamming various songs/memes at full volume. I quit the server after I hear desu on repeat for about 5 minutes.
Thankfully I never got into MMORPGs much, otherwise I'd feel much more depressed about the state of online gaming than I already do.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
