I live in an apartment, so we get more fire alarms than usual. It's really annoying when we do get it, because it's usually in the middle of the night or some other weird time like in the early morning. The only explanation for one of the times was that a spare mattress in storage or something caught on fire.
One time we had the fire alarm go off almost three consecutive times! The fire department almost didn't bother the last time, leaving our ears to be damaged instead of our property, by the apparent "fire". I tried to sleep through it, and the scary part was that I did for a brief while.
In high schools, fire alarms were welcome, although wrong. The morons pulled it once or twice after the initial time, making us get out of class multiple times in a day, on the rare occasions we got them. We complained when it was raining outside/freezing cold and we had to stand away or "we'd be engulfed by the [invisible] flames!"
Jam it back in, in the dark.
