[Anime] The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I really loved this anime after finding out the big twist at the end. I felt gypped before because the thumbnail previews of it looked really clear, but the resolution was less. Regardless, the purposefully bad acting was hilarious!
My favourite part was when Yuki starts choking Mikuru: "What are you doing?! That wasn't in the script!" I thought this would become ecchi with all the bouncing breast action of Mikuru, but the ending explained it all

I love the dance in the ending too! It's funny since you'd never catch a guy doing that real life.

OH lol! That would make much more sense! I was very confused and I actually had to open the third episode again to make sure I didn't miss anything after Yuki's revelation at the end. The most baffling part was: "How did you and Haruhi-san manage to escape that time?"

The baseball ep was all right, but there could have been more funny stuff in it too. I liked when Yuki was hitting and catching the ball so perfectly, but so lifelessly at the same time. I want more Mikuru abuse now

I think they were basically trying to drill in Ep. 5, that:

Mikuru's a time traveller, Yuki's an alien, and Koizumi's an Esper.
Haruhi gathered them together without really knowing their real identities.
Kyon is "the key" to Haruhi somehow.
The rest is a rather interesting take on the concept of time being simultaneous, and our world being insignificant

I tried hard to understand it but I didn't pause because I knew that Kyon would react as he would with that much info.

Episode six is rather normal in comparison to all the Mikuru abuse and supernatural events.
It also seems like a two-parter, but going with the non-chronological flow, the next episode doesn't have anything to do with it!

LOL! Was Haruhi cross? I really didn't bother to tell. They seemed to lack the full-blown dancing enthusiasm + expresionless faces in the real ED, but the last 10 seconds were funny anyways.


Looks like Episode 07 had crammed more stuff to understand in a short time, and for once, complex info had no simplified explanation after it! You were left to understand it yourself or pause and whip out your thesaurus.
The highlight was the battle with the cave cricket, even though it was short. More Yuki craziness akin to the baseball ep.

What a silly twist in that last episode! I was so confused until they sat at the table and explained all of it. The flashbacks as evidence were really clever too!

They wasted at least two minutes with that scene of Yuki reading and the voices in the background. It must have been full of Japanese puns or something. Blossoming feelings between Haruhi and Kyon too.
I did like the the part where Haruhi strips Mikuru but Yuki's books covered and revealed just in time, each time.

Episode 10, wow!

I never pegged that girl to be an alien of all people! I love how Yuki get stabbed with all those giant needles and is "fine" Adult Mikuru is intriguing too.

Somehow, despite the episodes being "out of order", the order of revelations is just fine.

Episode 11 is a big nod to strategy gamers out there. The only term I could understand was "fog of war", otherwise I would be lost that whole episode.

You gotta love Yuki and her super-intelligent-alien-psychic actions! Haruhi directly pointed out that she's the silent member of the group, which was the most obvious at the end, when she enjoyed the game, but still never said anything. One of these days, I'm wishing that Yuki would have normal speech tendencies out of nowhere

It ended although I wouldn't mind a second season from that kind of ending, although that's probably not going to happen

I was just informed yesterday night that this was out, and it's now our club's mandate to perform the full version dance one day xD. I wish by full dance version they really meant the full version song as well. That would be absolutely beautiful.

I could stand most of the voices. Johnny Yong Bosch as Koizumi, I liked. I didn't like Mikuru's/Yuki's NA VAs as much. To me, Mikuru comes off more as whiny instead of cute. Yuki has a somewhat more direct voice, or maybe it's just me, since these voices would be perfect to others.
I'm glad the OP and ED were unaltered.
