Octomania, now tentacle-free! Not the rape simulator you think it is!

Game: Octomania
System: Wii
Parties: Conspiracy Entertainment, Idea Factory
MSRP: $19.99

WiFi: YES

What is Octomania?
---

A cheesy charming puzzle game where one tries to send as much octopi to the opponent as possible by cooking them on grills! Use the square cursor to rotate the octopi and put an according number of like-coloured octopi onto numbered grills. Be warned, your opponents will put a fight and have you "buried in octopi!" and "buried in sea urchins!" At this price, with online WiFi octobattles possible, you'd be silly not to get it!

Features
---
- Nintendo WiFi! Octobattle your friends online for takoyaki supremacy!
- Intuitive controls! Switch between sideways or pointer grips with the press of a single button!
- 12 characters to annoy with; chain shouts galore, fully voiced.
- Arcade and original modes, both with different play systems!
- Cute, vivid, colourful, anime-styled visuals.
- Diamond system: reverse the flow of the battle with these awesome abilities!

Screenshots
-----
Source: kotaku, as usual

Grills abroil, Funkee and Kapprio fight to fill each others' screens with takoyaki through octobattling!

Kari halts her opponent's chain with a multiple of 10 chain of her own, laying the smackdown with a full diamond gauge as well.

Angelique sends a load of urchins to the opponent with her diamond ability.

Opinion
---

Trust me, no other game has:
- a goblin pig yelling out "Sterilizing attack!"
- a rapping rainbow leaf tree that can turn any badmouth comment into nonsense
- a samurai crab with a skewed sense of "crab honour"

If you don't like the puzzle nature of the game, you get it for the crack value at least.

Just unlocked all the characters in Original mode and the stories for the first row of characters are really annoying! It's like all of these characters are deaf or something, the way they just mindlessly do what they want. At least it's all still good for laugh value, now I can battle with any character for wifi

It also seems that when the colour count is 2-4 different colour octopi, the game suffers from Meteos syndrome (aka. random switching usually gives you results), even if the grills are 6-8. It's much harder with more colours though, espcially in conjunction with high number grills, so I guess skillful matches will go on for awhile. Now to try for those Endless mode titles!

FC Added!

There's nowhere I can't reach.
