Y'know the closer this monster of a game gets to release, slowly, the more hyped I'm getting over it. I went from not much interest at all (thanks to the demo that was packed with DQVIII) to really psyched! (Nothing like listening to previous FF soundtracks to get you back into that RPG and andventure mood)

Anyway, have they confirmed the list of summons yet?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It's probebly the comibnation of the grainy and fuzzy picture quality, the frentic and busy action on the screen and all the shades of grey that are present there in the shot. Keep in mind that FFXII's world is a nice little blend of magic and fantasy and futuristic Sci-Fi.

This game can very well make up for this gen's lackluster showing in RPG's when compared to the gen before it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Those images look great! I think the PS2 has finally peaked in terms of what it can produce visually.

I actually like watching those lengthy summon scenes. VIII's summons really didn't bother me much. They were always a treat to view. I think FFIX had it best though, where you can choose if you wanted the lengthy version or the condensced one.

Anyway, while FFXII's isn't as long as I'd like it to be, the two summons in the demo had an over the top major attack so it's fine.

I was speaking idiomatically.

For those of you who have played the game for a good while now, how are you liking the music? How does it compare to the previous FFs? What I heared on the demo seemed forgettable...

Maybe the name for it will be different for the US version since that's pretty damn engrishy.

Yeah I too despise redundant fighting or power-leveling. But, if it's over a 100 hrs. of nicely balanced mix of interesting gameplay with a long but great story, then it's fine.

Ditto. The first thing I thought of when I saw the larger pic of the cover was "uh...ok. So the focal point of the pic is Vaan's crotch radiating with some sort of holy rays. "

I'm not blown away, but it could have been much worse I suppose. Whatever, can't wait for the game itself!

So I went to EB-games today to put more money down towards the LE version of the game. While there, I figured might as well reserve the LE guide. (Yes, I know there's always gamefaqs, but to me, they're almost like art books. Especially considering that this one is gonna come with extra content being LE as well and all.) Anyway, the store clerk swore up and down to me that there's only going to be ONE definitive version of the guide...

I'm hoping this was just a case of EBgames employees being their usual uninformed selves...

Yeah. That's what stopped me from totally brushing off what the employee had to say in the first place. The fact that the contents haven't been discussed at all is kind of suspicious.

Although I doubt BradyGames would stoop so low on such a high profile title, it'd seriously suck if the LE guide was actually a normal guide with an extra "walkthrough" section added in specifically for the additional content in the LE version of the game to "help" you navigate the extra content menue or some crap like that. I know that sounds very stupid, but I've seen official E3 attending and connecting your Dreamcast online "strategy guides" before, so I don't completely put it past them.

I'm hoping this is a prequel (which should be, due to the younger look of the characters), because it pisses me off when I learn ahead of time which characters will survive through the end.
Hey, now don't jump to conclusions! What if some even happens in FFXII's timeline where after the PS2 game, something causes the entire cast (both the ones that survived and ones that didn't) to come back to life, but revert back in their age?

In all seriousness though, this is pretty great! Squeenix sure hasn't been shy with putting their games onto the DS. Hopefully, this'll lead them to create a main entry in the franchise that utilizes Wii's control scheme.

Also, CuteChocobo, regarding what you said about the battle system, it's exactly why I'm looking forward to it! I think it's gonna offer a lot of opportunities for fun experimentation when it comes to implementing a favorable combination of different AI orders and priorities!

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It's really odd that the extra contents of the LE guide are still a mystery. I wonder if they'll ever officially reveal the contents rather than just letting consumers find out when they buy it by reading the back of LE guide.

EGM has been on a downard-toilet-shit-spiral for years now. It's not half the magazine it used to be in the past. (I mean that both figuratively and literally) Now I'm not saying that FFXII is an absolute perfect game-especially since I haven't played it. However, EGM's reviews should be one of the last places to go to (if go to at all) to evaluate the quality of such a high profile, yet unorthodox RPG.

I'm starting to think an EB employee simply made up this LE FFXII Guide on the count fo there being an LE version of the game. -_-

How ya doing, buddy?

Can anyone explain this? Is it a joke or an homage. I know FFXII is in the same world as FFTA but I thought they were unrelated. And for the game to switch to the FFTA style, there has to be a reason. If it is a major spoiler then I guess I will have to find out on my own when I play the game. Otherwise, I am curious has to how this game relates to the previous ones if at all.

And just in case my direct link doesn't work, here is the picture on the website:
http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/488/4...g_4030546.html
I'm not exactly sure if this is gonna be in a sub-section of the menue, or perhaps accessed from the start-up screen, but it's just a neat, charming, pixelated room that keeps up with your various achievements throughout the game and rewards you some stuff.

The pic almost makes me wanna have the entire game in sprites. 2D sprites can be so captivating when they're lush and richly detailed.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
