With the Wii only 1 and a half months from Australian stores I started looking around for good prices to maybe pre-order one. When I was in the local EB I saw that the Wii would be about $400 and the games would be $110. After I left and was thinking about those prices and what they amount to in US dollars I felt kind of ripped off because te price should be closer to $350 to the console and I thought that the games were going to be around 80 so besides possible shipping costs is can anyone give me a reason why these prices are so high or if they've found places cheaper.

Cheers

Looks just like Goldeneye 007 in terms of gameplay. Looks like it plays JUST like Goldeneye 007 with the new wii-mote control scheme of course. Hopefully it'll be just as successful as Goldeneye 007.

Wow you're right it looks pretty sweet, starting to think that it will be one of the first games in my Wii collection. I went to Toys 'r' Us yesterday and they didn't have that Wii+free game thing any more you could only get a wii by itself or that massive family pack. I'll probably just get the Wii coz I haven't seen enough of Rayman or that Need for Speed title to decide if I want them. Any of you guys seen those games? any thoughts?

This is totally unrelated to the current discussion but I think I know what game I want them to bring out most on the virtual console...TROG!!!! It's such a great game, perfect in it's simplicity but still challenging and fun to play. Getting the pineapple and eating the trogs, priceless

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hey guys what are these component cable dealies. Chaofan said that the graphics might have been better because of them, how does that work? Also I've had all the other ninendo consoles does that mean that I already have a set of these component cables?

Probably! Depends on how long they're planning to keep this as a bundled game I guess.

Oh hey there's a new Wii TV ad out, it's so 1980's. <3

HAHAHA I love this ad. "Scorpion of the tennis court" what an awesome title for someone to have. If nintendo really want to get back to 80's maybe they can release a new cartoon like Captain N the Game Master.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I agree with you slayer. Something that does make me think the Wii is in with a big chance in the generation of consoles is the success of the Ipod. If the Ipod's shown us anything it's that if you have a sleek looking machine with a simple and easy to use interface (along with effective marketting) one product can take over the market. I think that if Nintendo does things right perhaps the Wii could be the new Ipod and become a household item but there's a very long way to go before that happens

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I checked my Freeloader box, couldn't see a number anywhere on it and I don't know where the hell the manual's gone. So I set my GC back up and chucked the disc in. It's version 1.04b. Guess that's the FAILURE version.
Is the TG-16 stuff like a rating similar to the MA rating in Australia? I don't get why nintendo are only releasing some VC games to certain continents, I'd imagine that a lot of the reason people wouild use the VC is to play games they hadn't played before so I don't get why nintendo would want to hold back on us.

There were people earlier in this thread talking about sega games and the dreamcast and such and I was wondering if anyone new if some sega saturn games were ever going to make it to the Wii. My cousin had one back in the day and Panzer Dragoon was pretty sweet so I'd love to see that. Also could anyone tell me where abouts the dreamcast would be in terms of other consoles (spec wise) like is it as good as the N64 or is it just better than the PS or what. I remember seeing a few at Westfields when they came out but thats it

How ya doing, buddy?

Someone mentioned here that after importing and paying for shipping and such it might still work out cheaper then buying it here in Australia and seeing as though a lot of cool looking games are coming out overseas importing a Wii (in a few months time) seems like an option. Importing would be a new thing for me though so I'm wondering if anyone could give me any advice about importing consoles or maybe getting a console here and importing games (you've spoken about freeloader but I've never known how it works).

Same deal for the DS as well, there are some great looking games on that and checking out the EB website it looks like a DS bundle with Brain Age is still cheaper than just the DS in Australia and there still isn't a release date for Trauma Centre I don't think.

Any previous experiences or advice would be appreciated
