Do a clean reinstall of the game, also delete your savagames. Simply start fresh.
Then you apply the latest official patch, that should be version 1.2. After that you get the latest fan-patch and apply it. The fan-patch only modifies scripting. It does not modify the buggy engine, so don't expect the fan-patch to fix crashes related to hardware incompatibilites. Vampire TMBL uses a very early Source engine beta, so bad performance should be expected. However the fan-patch fixes most of the scripting bugs and balances the game. You can check the ChangeLog of both the official and the fan-patch to check what was changed. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
It really depends on the type of hardware you use. There are a lot of incompabitilites in the old Source engine. You're lucky when everything is running smooth for you.
I was too some time ago when I played through the entire game with only the latest official patch and no fan patch. I'm still wondering how I managed to play through the game without encountering one of the nasty script bugs. But still VTMB is a great game. The story is wonderful. What character are you playing by the way? I remember playing a Nosferatu ![]() Sadly the game won't run under linux, so I have to wait until wine improves. ![]() Most amazing jew boots |
