Linux won't make your overheating problem go away. I even suppose it'll make it worse.

Maybe you should try some other ways of opening it. My friend has a Medion notebook (rather old) and knows the steps to disassemble it by heart. IIRC you gain access to the main screws when removing the keyboard (for this you have to remove some parts of the plastic housing below the lid).
