Not sure if people mention this but HDMI carries the signal, both video and audio, digitially while component carry the video signal via analog. So if you're connecting to a HDTV via component it's digital --> analog --> digital (ie. wave --> mp3 --> wave) but nevertheless display the color more accurately and in progressive/higher resolution. Only reason why some game might look worst when running via component is because that's how the game actually looks like. It's showing its "true color"! [/videophile]

So as someone said the PS3 not including a HDMI cable isn't the same as the Wii not including a component cable. Now I wish/want to know if I can use my GCN component cable with the Wii because I'm not willing to spend $30+ on another one.

As for the regional-lock thing, that...really...sucks...

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh a side note, the Wii also doesn't have an audio digital out. If the "new" component cable also have the audio cable together then it would be a hassle for those who wants to connect the video to a TV and the audio to a surround sound. On the GCN it was easier since you actually using two cable.

The more I think, the more it seems like Nintendo's making things a hassle for comsumer. :/

3rd party should make a USB-to-optical if that's the case.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I was about to say something that JazzFlight did. You can't really show off screen shot of a video running via composite, s-video, component and DVI/HDMI using your camera! You have to actually capture it directly. XP

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

DLP and LCoS (ILA) are progressive display too. :/

Don't forget that the games on the Wii are display at 480p internatlly (I remember someone from Nintendo saying that). That's one reason why I will be buying a component cable. I do switch back and forth playing on my 25" CRT (my room) and my 52" ILA (living room) TV (don't ask why! XP). There's one CRT SDTV that does have component input (it isn't mine) and using component cable was WAY better than s-video/composite.

Oh, don't forget those RF cable! Who still use that?!

This is the last tech talk from me... hopefully... XD;

I used three input source to see the different. I use the GCN, DVD player and HD cable box (set it to 480i and viewing all of analog, digital and HD content) and use composite, s-video and component cable. From composite to s-video the video was sharper. From s-video to component, not only it was sharper but the color was richer too. Oh well.

Now talking about the Wii, I wish it was for $200 but I can live with $250. I also wish the black Wii would be available at launch too. So I was thinking if I should wait a bit to see if Nintendo would release the black Wii...oh say... January of 2007... but I doubt it. :/

EDIT: I'm not sure if anybody posted this link but here's a video interview of Perrin Kaplan where she still state that the Wii is region free and that she gets the same question from other interviewer.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Another DS-Wii connectivity that I can think of is that you can download DS demos from home instead of walking into Best Buy or Toys R Us.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I think I already know the answer but I ask anyway: Has anyone try to put their Wii disc into a computer DVD-ROM drive to see if it can be read?

And damn I missed the boat again. I called one Best Buy and they said it seems like they will have more Wii in stock every Sunday.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

For those who haven't got a Wii yet (like me :/), Best Buy (and maybe EB/GameStop) are holding off sales of the Wii until this Sunday, December 17. Time for me to get my ass up early this Sunday!

Small line but yes there is. Most store around here says that either people wait in line or "drop by" but either way it's sold out in 5-10 minutes. @_@

Yes! Finally got a Wii at Target this morning.

I find it funny that there was no line created because of the cold damn weather until 10 minutes before the store opens. LOL

I'll be posting my Wii code soon.

I have a question about the points for those who lives in the state. In the Q&A it says it will charage sales tax even when you use your credit card. Is that true? If so I rather go buy points card in MA because of the 5% tax than RI 7% tax. XD;

Why buy the Wii by itself when you can have a custom PC with a Wii built in!
