My best suggestion is for you to hoof it into a store and try out all the digital camcorders within your budget.
These are the points I think might be important to you. (Resolution's not a problem since you're intent on having full HD right?):
- Storage type: Camcorders that use mini-DVDRs are perhaps the cheapest. Hard disk type camcorders cost the most. Your Samsung model uses flash memory with expandable SDHC storage, so it's priced in between. I would personally go for hard disks.
- Battery life: Obviously the more the merrier.
- Wide-angle capability: Most of the time, you will find yourself wishing you can fit everything in the frame. Having this makes it easier and is usually more useful than telephoto (zoom).
- Optical zoom: Bigger is better
You don't need to concern yourself with shutter speed, aperture, and all that jazz for a video camcorder.
