I recall having this sort of problem on a Windows XP computer. I don't recall what exactly I did to make it act that way, but I think it had something to do with either a lousy Windows Update or a crazy Java Runtime update.
After doing a full chkdsk (to ensure that the hard disk isn't failing) and after unsuccessfully trying to resolve it with a system restore rollback and a repair install, I finally reformatted the computer. Most amazing jew boots |
