MeTaL_oRgY, based on your descriptions, I'm led to believe that your speakers take these kinds of cables (RCA cables)
 While your sound card takes this kind of cable (BNC aka "Banana" or Stereo cables)  If this is the case, you can buy all sorts of converters to help you in your configuration needs. Jam it back in, in the dark.
