I've been wanting to put on a yard sale to get rid of some junk around the house but the cheap beaners that I live around would want it all for free. If that's the case, I'd rather throw it away.

Why would you rather throw things away than give it away free? The cost is the same to you (you lose the stuff), except you'll get a bit of gratitude if you give it away.
