I never really had much of a chance to play many 2010 titles and the titles that I did play were very few and far between. I still enjoyed the games that I did play in 2010, and I want to thank skills for convincing me to buy games that are usually outside my gaming taste, but I trust his taste in games and I don't regret any of the recommendations he has ever given me. I have bought war for cybertron, vanquish, and bayonetta even though I haven't played them yet. I think more than anything skills understands my gaming tastes, and these games aren't meant to be deep or story driven, but to cater to how much fun you can have with these games.
Death Smiles - 40 Points
Pretty much my game of the year which also ended up being my most anticipated game of the year as well. I just loved the amount of depth that this shoot'em up brought to the table. I also love the fact that the X-Box 360 system are taking the lead of bringing many beloved shoot'em ups to North American markets and making some very noticeable shoot'em ups even region free. As simplistic as the game is, it still has all the great things you could ask for out of any shoot'em up. The graphics and the music are absolutely mind blowing. You can increase or decrease the amount of difficulty this game has to offer and I feel you definitely get your money's worth out of this title.
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony - 30 points
Despite this yet another remake of the Lunar 1, I just felt that this was an rpg that really didn't have to redefine the rpg. It was a lovable game on the sega cd and ps1 and it is still a lovable game now. It never had to redefine the rpg genre. It was good just to give a current audience a great rpg to play. I loved the graphical improvements they made, even though the game is a lot easier than its previous counterparts. I wasn't necessarily a fan of the voice acting, but the graphical improvements were a welcome addition and they just added enough to make the game feel new without having to change too much.
Tatsunoku Vs. Capcom - 15 points
A good fighting game on the Wii. Who would of ever thought?
This game is actually incredibly fun with a wide array of characters and some excellent fighting music. It was incredibly entertaining to see some capcom characters get their first chance at a fighting game. The fighting engine is incredibly smooth even though the final boss can be a bit of bitch from time to time. There is plenty of stuff to do in this game and with all the things you can unlock, you'll definitely be playing this game for fairly long time.
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth - 15 points
It is a game that takes a different spin on the ace attorney series. I don't consider better than the ace attorney games, but its still a fresh idea into a good series. I liked analyzing a lot of the crime scenes and I thought it was great to play the game as Miles Edgeworth since I was a big fan of playing him in court on the final case of trials and tribulations. Looking forward to second game of the Ace Attorney Investigations.
Thats it for 2010 guys, until 2011.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
