I've pretty much got all of my Christmas shopping done in November, but there is still the scatter time I have to go into town to pick up a few odds and ends. I usually don't even come close to flipping my shit, especially over the holidays because I don't even bother with the Christmas hustle.
My current flight home on the other hand close to Christmas holidays came pretty close to me flipping my shit, but I persevered because I'm not usually one to get angry. I'll set up the scenario. On December 6th/2009 I was destined to fly back home, but back home there was a winter storm going on. They had predicted about anywhere from 30 to 40 cm of snow. I was really worried after working 16 days my flight would of been canceled, or possibly delayed for another day when I took my connection in Toronto. We got into Toronto, and our flight was delayed but only by half an hour (What A Relief). I got back into St. John's around 12:45, and thankfully the majority of the snowstorm had passed. The winds were still pretty high, but at least the snow had stopped falling. Our luggage was delayed another half an hour due to high winds which I can totally understand with it being a safety hazard. Around 1:15 AM I was getting ready to take a cab, but there was actually no cabs outside the airport. The cabs at the time, assumed no flights were coming in that night, because of the storm and they were obviously elsewhere in the city. There was a massive call out to get cabs out to the airport as soon as possible. In the meantime, two other flights had landed and within 1:45 AM there was a line up of 200-300 people waiting for cabs. I managed to get a cab at 2:00 AM, but the roads were incredibly treacherous. The cab couldn't even get to my street, I literally had to walk about half a kilometer up hill to get to my house. I kind of assumed I probably had to shovel some snow. At 2:30 AM I came home to this. Spoiler:
FUCK ME!!!!!!!!!!! No, I wasn't even going to touch it. That picture was the front of my house, and besides the back door, back porch, and front door were snowed in. I was just tired, and I needed to get some rest. So I woke up around 9:00 am in the morning, and in about three hours with just a shovel and scoop I managed to get all the shoveling and as a result: Spoiler:
So yeah, fuck this start to my early Christmas holiday. That 12 hour period almost made me lose my shit. No more winter storms until I have to go back to work. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
