Like every year guys, I don't really get much of a chance to play a lot of current releases. I did however get a chance to play a few, and this one of the few topics I look forward to every year.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - 35 Points
I don't consider myself the biggest zelda fan, hell I'm one of very few people that actually didn't enjoy ocarina of time (that is literally blasphemy to many video game players). I've always had a soft spot for a link to the past. To this day it still remains my favorite zelda game of all time, and when I heard they were going to make a sort of sequel for this game I was really excited. When I seen the first trailer I'll be completely honest I wasn't all that fond with the art style but I still decided to buy it an give it an honest try. I was actually impressed with what they did with the game. They kept a lot of the things the same but they made the game different enough to make it an incredibly enjoyable experience. I loved the new types of puzzles and even though the dungeons were much shorter than their counterparts in a link to the past not one aspect of this game felt tedious. This was been one of the most enjoyable zelda games I've played in a very long time, but I still consider a link to the past to be the better game.
Ducktales Remastered - 35 Points
Being a fan of the original ducktales on the nes, I was very excited to play this. I think Wayforward fleshed out this game as much as they could and as a result made this a really wonderful experience. Not only did I feel like I was playing ducktales but actually watching an episode of ducktales in the process. I often don't understand what people's gripes with this game were, this was one of the best platformers I've played in a really long time and I look forward to playing this game on harder difficulties. I hope wayforward takes other awesome capcom/disney collaborations and turns them into wonderful games just like this one. I'm ended up buying the ps3 digital release first with the pin, but the moment I discovered this game was getting a physical release, I gave my download code away and got the physical release that this game so rightly deserves.
Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies - 30 points
Best ace attorney game since trials and tribulations, hands down. I really wish this game had a physical release, but the game had a north american release and I at least have to be grateful for that unlike Investigations 2. Its often amazing what they'll do to make the experience fresh and unique with each and every iteration of this series. Excellent story, excellent mechanics, and so many twists and turns. You just never know where the story is going to go with this game
Jam it back in, in the dark.
