Chances are that your router is just crappy and can't handle a high number of TCP connections. This would explain the slow speeds and uTorrent disconnecting. Try to lower the number of connections in your client to remedy the problem. The ports you need to forward are also specified in your client. Make sure to use non-default ones in case your ISP blocks certain P2P ports.

And if you're using Windows XP SP2 make sure to use this TCP limit fix.

You might even want to set it higher. Just remember to adjust your BT client accordingly, so it doesn't use more connections or otherwise your downloads will slow down to a crawl.

The patcher removes the incredibly low TCP connections limit introduced with SP2 for security reasons (worm prevention).

Any ports but the default ones (6881-6889 for BitTorrent) will do just fine.

30759 seems OK (most clients only need one port now), just make sure you have that port forwarded to your computer's own IP in your router's settings.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It's most probably the "Virtual Server" tab. Just enter your BT port(s) and use your computer's IP as "Service IP".

Last time I checked, transfer speeds depend on your ISP, not your router.

Even then, crappy routers don't limit your transfer speeds (either normal or P2P) to this extend if configured properly.

I was speaking idiomatically.
