The Killers
The Hives
The Eels
The Vines
The Strokes
The Corrs
The All-American Rejects
The Trews
In fact, the only "THE" band name that's still available and decent is "The Collective Nouns". I'd enjoy a group who had the self-effacing sense of humor to choose that one.
Also, I am not liking this trend of "weirdo" names, ones that are obviously some contextual reference to something but make absolutely no sense to anyone not present when the band was formed.
My Morning Jacket
Death Cab for Cutie
Kill Hannah
My Chemical Romance
Panic! At the Disco
I wish they'd go back to having names that don't strive to be so allegorical.
(And New Pornographers are a quality band despite their "THE NOUN" styled name.)

Fall Out Boy
Angels and Airwaves
Matchbook Romance
Hawthorne Heights
I just don't get it...
There's nowhere I can't reach.
