So, anyone else going to pick up this Undiluted Platinum chip when it's out?
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
And hey, there's even a chance you wouldn't've been able to download anyway - The chances of having an undowngradable TA-082 motherboard are totally up in the air.
I recently discovered Devhook 0.45. FUCKING WONDERFUL APP. Now I'm playing a load of 2.xx games on my 1.50 PSP, fuck yeah. The homebrew scene is really thriving right now. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Yoshi's Island still runs pretty badly, but most other games run at 100% or very close to it. Chrono Trigger and FFVI are totally, utterly playable and Super Mario RPG is playable if you're patient... I'd say runs at 55fps or so.
N64 emulation isn't too bad either - some games get you 20fps. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Nah, they're actually not technically superior. The only reason they look better is because the sprites used are pre-rendered 3D models converted into flat images. Yoshi's Island's sprites have MANY more frames, and there's a lot more going on in the background - Look at the lush colour-shifting and deforming effects going on.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Already write-protected everything in the flash0 folders, and haven't been bothered to do so for the flash1 folders as I don't really use the browser. Neat to know that it could fuck things up, ty for the tip.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
I'm having a little problem with devhook. Seems that in-game wifi doesn't always work, but in the XMB I can use the web browser and all fine. Does the 0.46 update fix this?
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Has anyone heard anything - absolutely anything - about Gran Turismo 4 Portable? It was originally shown in like mid 2004 or something and I've heard NOTHING since then. What gives? ;_;

So there's a security hole in 3.00 that they decided to patch with 3.01. HOWEVER, 3.01 seems to have the same flaw, and the firmware's been dumped/decrypted. Devhook ahooooooooy.

Man, the PSP scene has MAJORLY taken the fuck off in less than a year. In December 2005, people with 2.01 and above were completely out of luck as far as homebrew went. Look at it now - emulated firmware, UMD images on 2.60, full custom firmwares...
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
More likely is 8GB of NAND flash considering recent developments in that field. Integrated camera is likely, too (WHY).
As for news, files, etc - PSPupdates on the QJ network has everything you need. Warning, though: Their community is SCUM. They also have a very hypocritical, wishy-washy piracy policy which seems to change every few weeks. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Been playing Vagrant Story for the past three days. Pretty awesome stuff; better than EPSXE or PCSXBOX could ever manage. <3 Sony for fucking up so badly.

I ripped a few UMDs a while back - Can't remember the name of the app I used, but PSP-Hacks hosts it, and it gives you the option of compression. Obviously deeper compression takes longer, but I wound up getting Mercury down to less than 200MB. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Yes. That's exactly what you do as long as you've done everything else correctly so far.
You don't need to name the folder anything in particular. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
If you're really that paranoid about it, I'd say the safest bet is to go get a USB power adapter for it. I lost my official charger in November 05.

Because Dark Alex (the guy who codes the custom firmwares) has stopped working, something tells me the homebrew scene won't be progressing much for a while.
I'm still using 3.03 OE. :d What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Do the newer models suffer less from the pixel problem/red bleeds? The PSP I purchased in October '05 has had a blue stuck pixel from day one, and despite only really pulling the thing out once a month, it always takes me a bit of time to get reacclimatised to it being there.

Wow. The original PSP was kind of lackluster, but this video makes the new model look pretty fucking sweet. I guess now that high speed net connections are commonplace, they can afford to move to a 100% digital distro model...
